That's why I asked others to see if they got the same thing.

I happened to try it at a nearby hotspot down the street.
At the hotspot it gave me the IP address of the hotspot.
But it still wouldn't let me register.

Likewise, I walked over to the parking lot of the public library.
That time it gave me the 127.0.0.1 instead of the library IP address.

But none of those three tests allowed me to create the account.
Which is why I asked if it allowed anyone else here to create it.

Read the RFCs about IPv4 and IPv6 address types. Localhost (127.0.0.0/8
and ::1/128 are onyl for communication inside your computer. You cannot
connect to other computers using that address.

Thanks for responding as on this newsgroup, probably 100 out of 101
suggestions for "free news servers" turns out to not be the case when you
actually try them.

Thanks. I see below that it's four different servers. None of which worked
yet but I'll try them (but I suspect none will actually work when tried).

Thanks. I'll try all four but I don't think any will work because I've been
down this road where 100 out of 101 listed "free" news servers don't work.

It was the hotspot of the IP address. I didn't write it down.
But I ran a curl reported the correct hotspot IP address.
curl icanhazip.com

The web page is giving the wrong error message.
The real IP address is given by a curl command.
curl ichanzip.com
curl ifconfig.me

He probably knows this since EVERY attempt fails.
I suspect he's blocking everything that isn't coming from Germany.
But I have no way of knowing that. I just know I tried 3 ISPs.
All three failed.

AFAIR szaf.org is not a public news server, it's a closed community of
people who consider themselves to be "szafe" ("Schafe"/sheep as
