I will only respond to the stars. Like the stars on Hollywood Boulevard I will step on them. Hollywood is like a theme park in a way. Could use some rides. All the times I went there never saw any movie stars. If you are a 'star' you should be required to do some time walking around letting people get autographs.

I know you were born out that way, but when I moved there I saw known people almost every day. Maybe not super stars considered glamorous or sexy, but lots of comics and so forth, I'd see them almost every time I'd hit the Blvd. I saw Bob Hope and Milton Berle walking together down the Blvd when I first got there. Tired of dropping names and swear I won't do it again unless it's my name. Anyway, I used to bump into known types all the time in Hollywood. I guess going to Hollywood to see the stars is like going to a thirst store to buy a certain item that you'll never find when you're looking for it, but will see it every day when you're not. Also, let's not forget, there's a lot of celebrities out there today so colossal in their nothingness that you could pass 50 or 60 a day and never even know it. I gave Phil Silvers and Tim Leary a kick on separate occasions bumping into them on the Blvd. Both times I would let them pass then suddenly yell out Hollywood style, "Yo Phil, Sweetheart!", or, "Yo, Tim baby, what's happening man?", and watch as their heads would whip around thinking someone in the biz was calling out to them. Instead they'd see me with a smile on my face and in both cases, especially with Silvers, he put up his hands in the "You got me!" position, a smile on his face as well, happy to know that someone 30 or more years his junior would even know who he is. I enjoyed making these guys feel good in that way. But I think I should have gotten more out of it. Paid maybe. Can I sue for abuse? "I tried to open a dialogue with Silvers and he wouldn't let me in - I want to sue for damages. With Leary I'll let it go because I know maybe he zoned out on LSD at the time.

The acid vs real life perspective has always been funny. We were at the poolroom discussa-bating the relative talents of a various well known musician/singers when suddenly someone's name came up - can't remember who, doesn't matter - and I yelled, "That guy sucks", to which one guy chimed in, "I used to think so too. But then I saw him on acid and I got it." He was serious. But he was intelligent enough to have a sense of humor about it. At least that's the way I saw it. I was on acid at the time or I might have taken his comments too seriously and aggressed on the dude. Most people get mellow and cool on acid. Not me. Sometimes it would mellow me out. Other times it it would produce vivid flashbacks from Korea and Nam causing me to punch people repeatedly in the face with a fist with P-T-S-D written across all four knuckles of my hand except for the thumb which I lost jumping on a grenade to save a buddy in 'Nam. I was on acid then too. Everyone was - even the Cong. It was one big party and everyone knew it. Oh god how I long for those glorious days of old.

Some guys loved the stuff. I am nuts because I didn't like it after taking it the first time yet took it again a month or so later. Acid and all drugs now seem so far away. Been decades except for some pain killers. Well there are lots of drugs in the world. This is one.
