I've taken my fair share of those tests. When I was at the Pro in Philly I was taken with my best friend to Temple University where we were given IQ tests along with Rorschach and others. I loved it. We were chosen because the Brothers thought we were the best candidates, probably because we weren't much like the other kids in the place, on the surface anyway. To me almost all rorschachs look alike, either like cunts or roadkill of some kind or maybe somebody who jumped off a building. Whoever invented them was nuts. A disciple of Freud, another top notch loony masquerading as a scientist, Dr. Moreau style.

In my 20s a guy at the poolroom gave me a logic puzzle to figure out. "You got one day", he said. I told him it wouldn't take that long. But I couldn't figure it out. I told him I couldn't. He said to take as much time as I want with it. Finally I gave up and asked him what the answer was and he said, "I don't know." Kind of pissed me off but I had to laugh at the same time. That's what makes me a nice guy - I can be pissed off and laugh at the same time. Can you do that? Not many kind. It's what sets me apart. Makes me unique. Special. Different. Esoteric. Out of sight. But I'm not going to brag about it because I can't prove it. That means there is no right answer. So for us this test is over. Repeat: This test is over!

I see now a national convention where women testers have gathered to share stories of their testing techniques and all of them have dotted eyes and other signs of physical abuse. The leader of the group is still in favor of testing men but suggests new methods are needed to keep the beatings down. She started by founding NAFTA - Nationally Associated Female Testers of Abuse - and also writing a book on the subject that made her famous. The title of the book? "A Test Too Far."

So many acronyms. We are a lazy bunch. So many and sometimes have multiple meanings. HMM (Has multiple meanings).

LOL. I saw your post last night on the smartphone and wanted to respond but did not want to get out of bed. LOL again. I have been thinking of starting an anti abbreviation group. Our slogan would be TMA - (too many abbreviations) or (too much aggravation). Truth is we don't want to use abbreviations at all, we want them abolished. But in order to get the backing we need we need to get the attention of the masses. Can we do that without abbreviations? It would not be easy. They'd see a bunch of full sized words and stop reading on the spot. I hate caving in, but in our quest to get Triple A under way (AAA - anti abbreviation association), we will need to use a few acronyms to lure people in. Just at the start. Then slowly as we rope them in we can begin to use less and less acronyms and abbreviations until we've got them reading our manifestos beginning to end with no short cuts or deviations allowed.

We had a negro shoot a cop near me. He put the first cop in the hospital. The second cop put him in the ground. No statues will be erected.

Maybe it's too late, but how a cop treats a suspect means a lot in the long run. I used to get stopped almost every night in Hollywood when I was in my 20s. Even sometimes when I got older. I was on the ground a few times, for nothing. Most of the time the cops would roust people and give no reason why. I never asked, but I never challenged them either. Well, one night in the poolroom parking lot two cops stopped me and got out and questioned me. Then they said it was ok, I can go. Before leaving one of the cops showed me a small photo of a guy they were looking for. "We stopped you because you look a little like the guy we're looking for", he said. Now, that could have been total bullshit. But even if it was bullshit it made me feel better to think they had an actual reason for rousting me. I suppose really they could narrow it down to maybe ten photos if they really wanted to. Ten different types. So after they stop someone they go into their photo album and pull out the one that most resembles the person. It's a sham but it helps keep things from getting out of hand, most of the time anyway - unless they get a George Floyd "I can't breathe" type, then it's "go time".

Good one. Uh, did you make it up? Don't get me wrong, I know you make up lots of good stuff. But sometimes something sounds so good you have to wonder if it hasn't been said before. Anyway, no need to overanalyze it, just saying it's a good one. I guess the crimes keep growing in severity. Being young is a a crime but it's not as serious a crime as being old. When you are young you are sentenced to being old. When you are old you are sentenced to death.

I still seriously want to learn I've got some kind of slow moving terminal illness so I can relax even beyond where I'm at today. I want to know for a royal fact that the future means nothing. No more hemming and hawing - I want to live one minute, I want to die the next - NO, from now on I want to die. But it has to be on my terms. Slow and painless with narcotics just to make sure.

Holiday was probably as big a creep as Earp and the rest of them. He is the most interesting of all the OK Corral characters, which I suppose isn't saying much. More history that no one knows if it's real or not. Maybe the Clanton's were hounded by the Earp's. All the way. Pushed into a showdown by Earp and his bawdy band of outlaws turned lawmen. But I suppose Holiday can be interesting. He's one of those rare characters a good actor (think Nick Cage or Tom Cruise or Tom Hanks) can really sink his teeth into. Everyone is waiting for the movie to come out so they can see how Doc is interpreted. That's what it's all about. What version of Holiday are we going to get? Up there with Dr. Moreau and Fletcher Christian and Captain Bly, only not quite, not in my opinion. But he does endure, doesn't he? The Doc endures.

It's funny how some stories endure over time. I can understand some of them. Good premises. All historical yet open to interpretation. These enduring premises - the Earps, the Holidays, the Clantons, the Christians and the Bleys - they are but the windows to the one big soul Preacher Casey and Tom Joad were talking about. Pardon me if I feel inclined to drag myself into this. I drove a cab for 33 years. I also did a lot of hitch hiking. They are kind of the same thing, related in some ways. Hitch hiking or driving the cab I would never feel bothered knowing the guy in the back is a murderer. Unless he's a spree killer and I'm next on his list. As a matter of fact - true - when someone would get in the cab and tell me, "I just got out of prison", it would make me more trusting of the person.

But I did get beat in the cab once by a guy claiming he just got out of the state pen here in NC. He looked it too. He even told me the money was on the other end. I took a lot of gambles driving the cab. I would say most paid off. Even if they didn't pay off money wise, they paid off later story telling wise. My philosophy was I was pretty much getting beat by the dispatchers anyway, so why not beat myself now and then. The just out of prison guy approached me at a Dunkin Donuts. I told him I'd take him. His grandmother would pay on the other end.

But it was a 40 mile ride. A good one. A good pay day. When we got there she wasn't home. I don't believe it was even the right house. Then he went to a phone and called or pretended to call someone. He explained the money was further down the road. I agreed to take him. The masochism was kicking in. He got out and made another call. "No, they're further down the highway", he said. I wound up taking this guy like 70 miles down the road chasing after that cash.

Finally he wants to use the phone again. I pulled into a gas station. The phone was within viewing distance but I wanted to get rid of this guy anyway. I needed to give him an out. I bent over the front seat as if checking something out in back. Then I pulled out a map book and pretended to be absorbed in it. I gave it a good minute or two. When I looked up he was gone. At last. I drove back to W-S. When I got back I had a good 5 hours left on my shift and I just went to town taking every crap order they'd give me and when it was all over I actually wound up making $50 for the night. But ordinarily when a guy gets in and says he just got out of prison or he's looking for a whore or for drugs, usually that's a good sign. Wrong or right, I tend to trust people who admit shit up front. So if a guy says he's a murderer - and if he's not in the middle of a random spree - I might actually feel safer with him than with the average clown who claims to have never killed.

Reminds me of a guy named Dana at the poolroom who used to walk up the steps on his hands and do 25 handstand pushups in a row, if that means anything.. He was telling me about 3 guys who were giving him a hard time and he called an ambulance. "Did they do anything for you?", I asked. He said, "I didn't call for me, I called for them." I don't know if he made it up or not but it was a nice story that seemed to roll out unforced. I would pick up the bloody guy but he might have to show me money first. Even without money, if he's fleeing someone or something, even if he is guilty of something, I would at least get him out of the area before telling him he's got to go.

I'm a nice guy. Please, believe me!
