I don't understand it. I received 1200, 600, and then 1400 at different times and never wasted any of the money, not that I know of. Yet it's nearly gone. I have 2 grand left and I need it for clothes and other essentials. Yes, I'd love to see another stim, even if it means a bunch of people other than me have to die.

So we pay a bunch of actors (in other words anybody who want a quick cheap payday), to stir up some kind of chaos at a time and place we have already mapped out. The news person is called. "Got an exclusive for you", he is informed.

He loves out stories because he doesn't have to pay. And we never tell him the action was staged although he may eventually figure that out for himself.

News been slow lately. Need to speed it up. I don't think news people try anymore. They are just news readers of shit sent out from some central headquarters.

The papers are not what they were but are still a better source of entertainment/information than TV or internet because once you buy the paper it's all you've got. So you go through it looking for decent stuff to read. If it's there good, if not, tough shit. But often within the daily paper there are articles not related to politics and celebrity that do exist on the internet but must be sought out somehow.. I like the random format of the paper. But yes, not only is it skimpier now than ever in many ways, the writing itself is so shoddy that even someone such as myself who never cared much about perfect grammar can't help but notice their many mistakes. Funny things about the papers - always a day or two late compared to the internet's instant news, which I hope never to need - when I read about Alec Baldwin and the gun it was already two days old and had turned into a political thing about real guns being allowed on the set in the first place. So with some articles you have to get to them earlier if you want to read just the facts without all the political shit which is surely on the way. Sometimes it comes right along with the report. If a gun shot doesn't get you started nothing will. The starter pistol needs live ammo and the starter can pick a runner at random to shoot. If you get shot and manage to win the race you get a bonus prize.

Yeah, a bonus prize, a chance to run again next week. I had a guy pull a gun on me once. I was a teenager visiting my buddy Ray at a junior college in Yuma Arizona. Wild country. We met a teenage girl and she said she wanted to move in with us. We went to her house while she went in to get some stuff. We were on foot. Her father appeared with a gun. He pointed it and yelled some stuff and we took off. My buddy Ray was ahead of me. I was faster. I did not want to bowl him over, I just wanted to get past him. Later he was all upset about it, telling me I was trying to sacrifice him for my own safety which was not the case. Just move the fuck over and let me through or pick up the fucking speed.

Another time, again with Ray, we were hitch hiking through North Carolina by the coast near the Marine base around Jacksonville NC. It was about 3am. A narrow road, not much traffic. Dark. I saw a big dog across the street. It seemed to be heading our way. To calm it down just in case I started talking to it - "Good boy, come on boy", and so forth - and it began to amble toward us and I could see at that point that it was too large to be a dog - it was a fucking bear - and we all went into a panic, which is funny today, and even later that night - taking off without thinking into a swamp and getting muddied up from head to toe. Again Ray was in front of me and again I was trying to get him to move over so I could pass him. We sort of went in a circle and came out again further up the same road. We held hands and and waved at the next car coming. It was some Marine with stripes. A black guy heading back to base. I told him about the creature, not knowing at that time what it was. "Probably a black bear", he said, "we have a lot of them around here." Anyway, the panic was funny.

But back to the gun. Man, I not only ran, I did so with my head tucked low, even my legs, going as fast as I could while at the same time trying to shrink the target. The guy never fired. Another time here in this town I pulled up at a dead end for a far from the taxi dispatcher. The guy said, "Ain't nobody called no cab." Real arrogant. I said a few choice words thinking I was safe. Then I saw the rifle. A big modern type, by my standards, or as far as I knew. He fired it like 6 times and I could feel the bullets whizzing by. I could feel the air move. I whipped that steering wheel hard and got out of there quick. My heart was pounding. At least I was alive. And I still am. When will I die? Who knows?

Ok, not a million, but more than just the one I told. Even though I am not a gun owner I have had them pointed at me and have also twice been on the ground with young L.A.. cops with their gun-toting hands shaking and screaming for me to shut up and not move even though I wasn't. Sometime when you have the time I'd like to hear your brother's gun story. I'm sure lots of people have better gun stories than I, or at least more of them. Maybe some people average one a week.

The gun is a scary thing. It works. It will back me up. But when I was 21, having just moved to L.A. I was driving up the big hill of LaCienaga to Sunset Blvd in a stick shift car. There was a long line of traffic behind me. I could drive, but using the stick shift the car would sometimes slide back a bit on a steep hill. I tried to urge the guy behind me to move back just a foot or two for the safety of his own car. The light changed and I managed to get moving, but not before sticking my middle finger out the window and yelling "fuck you" to no one in particular really, just the stress of the situation. I whipped the car into into an underground garage below a bank to which my front seat friend was going. I heard a car peeling in behind me. It was a Negro. He looked angry. He got out of his car. I was scared but said to myself, "No, not this time, I'm not backing down anymore." I got out of the car but it was all bluff. I just didn't want the guy thinking he could scare me just because he was Black. He started screaming, "You white piece of shit, what the fuck you give me the finger for?" I told him it wasn't for him, just the world in general, because I was stressed by all the honking horns or some shit. It wasn't just his loud voice and angry face, it was the straight razor in his hand. It backed me up real quick. "I'm sorry", I said, "I didn't mean it for you", blah blah blah.......................the point pointed in your direction is truly scary, but a straight razor is right up there with it. Not only would it be hard to imagine dealing with someone else's blade, it would be equally hard for me to picture myself using one on someone else. I suppose in a life or death situation I could. But even then I would likely hesitate just long enough for my target to get to me first with something equally fearsome.

I was not yet a real driver. Oh I could handle the vehicle. I felt in control. But nowhere near the level I achieved later behind the wheel of the cab. That is when I became the greatest driver on earth. But I saw signs early, including that little run in with the razor waving Negro at the underground garage, that I had what it took to work from within the vehicle, within it and without it - that it was a big part of my life. I said it before and I'll say it again, I believe self driving cars can work if they're the only cars out there. They have to have their own roads. Otherwise there's going to be lots of damage, which is fine with me. Fucking idiots. I sometimes take cabs. Some cabbies hate Uber and the other newer type companies because they don't want things to change. But really, I do believe in certain circumstances on the road where instant judgment is required, like "I have to swerve really hard to avoid this big bus coming my way, and I've got to step on the gas to do it, and then I've got to decide, "Which group of people do I plow into? The young college kids gabbing on one corner, or a group of middle aged bicyclists on the other?" In a case like that I would take the worst driver on earth over a fucking computer. People who are for self driving cars need to get hit by a few, maybe then they'll wake up to reality.

Oh hell yes. When I had cars - owned 11 in my time, never paid over $100 for a single one - I usually had trouble finding someone to work on them. It would really piss me off because I wasn't looking for any deals, just honesty. But some jobs require lots of space and even a lift and draining pit.. So for me it was never easy to find someone to do even the easy stuff, like a tune up for instance. One time I paid a guy to tune it up - just a guy, not an actual repair shop - and I had been driving it so long without a tune up that when he was done I felt I was driving off in a brand new car. I just hate when people talk about what they can do, but then when you ask them for help and are willing to pay, suddenly they don't know shit. Absolutely to hell with the dealership thing.

I am not saying the diagnostic machines don't work, or can't, only that it's too impersonal. A doctor can hook up the healthiest human on earth to a diagnostic machine and they're going to find something. Same with the auto mechanic. I'm not saying they even do it on purpose, only that when you go in with one problem they should address that problem on it's own, not find more bullshit going wrong by hooking it up to a machine. What's wrong with asking a mechanic to get in your car - even letting him drive it a few miles - so he can hear or feel whatever it is you're complaining about? "Nah", he says, "no need for that, we'll just hook it up to the machine." Fine. The machine may or may not find what the problem you brought it in for, but you can be sure it will find other problems in the making because nothing is perfect. Intermittent problems are the worse. Or ones that happen only under certain conditions which are not easy to duplicate. For cars and people. I will wait untill the symptoms are chronic so they will have it easier.

Your approach is not only a smart one, it may be the only one. I was an emergency room guy all my life till I got the Medicare/Medicaid at age 66. I think the ER service was better. Other than the extra long wait I have seen no advantage to an actual doctor's office - quite the opposite in fact. Yes, the symptoms must be worse for them to be able to do anything. The doctors go to school for 8 years. But with the proper instructions, I am sure what they do can be duplicated by people off the street with a few month's training. It's all procedures. Very rare to find a real doctor. As I have said before, merely an opinion - "To be a good doctor one must be a good detective." Funny about the car thing. I know little about cars. Never learned because (a) I had no interest, and (b) I always felt that somehow I'd become rich without even trying and cost would not be a factor. But while I don't know how to fix them, believe me, driving the cabs I experienced probably every kind of breakdown there is. Enough to know each time, "Oh no, there goes the ________again." The experience you're talking about - waiting till the end, or trying to get someone to see or feel or hear something only you know about so far - it reminds me of the old Abbot and Costello thing where Costello sees something, a ghost or whatever, and it's really there, but every time Abbot turns around to see it it's gone. I am ready. But not ready enough. Every so often I find myself feeling quite calm about it all, even while feeling possible heart attack or stroke symptoms. Other times I want to live forever. Actually, I always want to live forever but I know I have to die, so I have already surrendered to it. These vaccines and procedures sell because they are sold over and over and over again on TV. Saturation advertising. It affects everyone to some degree. I go around with the names of all the pharm crap in my head - Optivo, Entivio, the list goes on and on - all kinds of vaccines for everything, kill it before it grows style. And people go for it because they are afraid to die. I too am afraid to die. But I am not ready to pay for medicines to keep my alive, especially when they usually don't work. I'm up late at night - and boy oh boy it's one pharm ad after another. Or insurance of some kind. Same thing. All based on fear. But mostly on laziness, I think.. Look at the laxative aisle. Tons of laxatives. What ever happened to the enema bag? It took too much work to use, but it was effective. The pills replaced the bag because they're easier to administer. People are lazy and afraid to die. The combination creates a new form of energy that cries, "Get out there and buy everything you can to stay alive!"
