Funny thing here , I can't get AHR to work on e-s , only on blocknews
.. Haven't tried lately , might be working now .

With Thunderbird it seems I have to click on a group then another to
connect with e-s.

Yes, I do that every time. You can even click on "sent" or any other
folder.

I never have any such problems. Could relate to some "refresh" setting?

Just had it. Clicked on AHR and a message popped up the connection was
reset but nothing loaded. Click off, click back on and they loaded.

I also don't like the way the later version handles threads. Normally,
not a problem but if you leave unread messaged, go away, when you come
back it loads the new with the old together and a PITA to read and reply.

I meant "Mail & Newsgroups" menu, not "Browser" menu.

I used Agent a while back. I don't remember why I switched at the time.

All of the posters using Agent cannot display Unicode characters. My
poster nym is "😎 Mighty Wannabe ✅". The first Unicode character is an
emoji of a smiling face in black glasses. The last Unicode character is
a square box with a tick mark inside. Agent will display my poster nym
as "? Mighty Wannabe ?".

I think Agent is pathetic, in this day and age.

Well now that we know what they are meant to look like, we don't have to
display them!

Pathos is an essential element of many plays.

Are we taling about thunderbird (which you are using in this post) or
Agent?

Agent 1.93 has different drop downs with more one-letter commands listed
than version 5 has. (But I think old commands still work even if not
listed. I'll have to pay attention.)

I don't know if there are rules that span programs but under Navigate it
has
N Skip to next unread message
B Skip to next unread body
F Follow-up Usenet message.

**I stopped using 1.93 and moved to 5 when 1.93 stopped working in both
computers within a few days of each other about 6 months ago. Tried to
start it many times, after rebooting etc. Didn't work, but tonight it
did. Oh, I updated the desktop Windows10 Pro for the first time in 2
years recently. That must be it. Though that doesn't explain why it
stopped working.

Still doesn't work with win10-Home, which was always caught up with
updates.

I've been using Agent since about 1995. Beta versions for quite some time, then
1.93, followed by nearly 20 years with 2.0, and now 6.0. It just works.

When I signed up for internet, around 93 or 95, the isp sent me a CD
with the free versions Eudora and Agent on it. Been using one version
or another ever since. Agent was version 0.99 at the start.

I think I started with V1.0 when it was already obsolete and it was
still better than anything else I tried
