About "Catch 22": In junior-year English, I gave an oral book report
on it, reeling off anecdotes for upwards of a half hour.

Nobody else was eager to do theirs, and I was the star-student-who-
could get away with it. The stories were funny, so I kept didn't stop.
The occasion stuck in my mind because I was eventually interrupted
by the Principal -- He wanted to make some announcement. He
apologized for interrupting, but he had first waited a bit, then
cruised past more than once after stopping by other classes, and
I was still going.

That was long before I ever re-read any book. Those days, I
remembered details better than I do now. These days, I re-read
most fiction if it was very good, because I read too fast to think
enough about details and subtext on the first time through.

Maybe I will read "Catch 22" again.

One of the first books that I eventually re-read was "Cat's Cradle". I
was amazed at how much it seemed exactly the same as what I
remembered. Nothing new or different.

I must admit that that's one character I'd completely forgotten about.

But no. If I wanted to rename it, I'd be leaning more towards General
Scheisskopf. And I probably won't rename it, because I would then need
to rewrite this page of the manual:

http://www.pmoylan.org/cgi-bin/readinf.cmd?English/major.inf+text+33

The home page for the program, in case anyone cares, is at
