I have it working now. First I upgraded java, but that made no difference. Then I stopped the debian(ubuntu) install from i2p repository and installed the latest without using the package manager. The version number for what I stopped is 1

https://github.com/mikalv/awesome-i2p Some of the links I checked are useful. As usual don't trust to much in people you don't know personally. I'm ready to cut Mik (i2p pledger) some slack for the Snowden softball interview, for some o

I've done that in the past since I don't always run the latest stuff or upgrade as I should. But afaik I'm running the latest i2p router. When I get more time I'll try to figure it out and post back what was wrong. Don't have time right

I had a similar problem at some point. Turned out i was running a massively outdated version of i2p.

Trust is relative. I doubt there is much more trust to be put in a random person than trusting them to keep things running. They'll know your contacts. That can't be avoided. Beyond that it's down to checking fingerprints and never ever

Yes, it's 1.50. I can't reach notbob.i2p or stats.i2p, but I can reach postman. I'll have to dig further, thanks for your suggestions.

If i2pplus 1.50 is your ONLY router and can't reach zzz.i2p you have a problem. Can you reach notbob.i2p? 1. The download was corrupt or your OS is corrupt. 2. I would try GUIX overlay first for your OS and download i2pplus with Epiphany

I haven't tried i2pd yet, just using Java i2p. Should I expect to be able to reach zzz.i2p with this router, or do I need to change something? I'm very interested in i2pd and it sounds from your reply that it can run alongside my curren

If you have a dual install with i2pd 0.9.31 and you did not change i2pd.conf to add the encryption you need to change the port on i2p+ and your browser to access zzz.i2p. In the tips for Qubes users that port is 3333 so to access zzz.i2p

Danwin was trying to run just one router from a Raspberry Py. To succeed on i2p as a public service you need mirrors, redirects, subscribers, families, torrents, and yes ... routers. If you have a private XMPP for just a 2-3 people you mi

What were the issues he was having in i2p but not on tor? Thanks for the link!

The only XMPP server I somewhat trust is not on i2p. The guy failed miserably on i2p despite my offer to help. https://danwin1210.me/mail/ He is a legend in the Onion and blocking of major spies (firefox tprb=third party request blocker)

Qubes OS i2p GUIX Install Tips With GUIX you can run 2 routers or more in the same VM in addition to other OS routers. For browsing purposes make sure you change your JAVA router port from 4444 to some other like 3333 in the tunnel manag

That sounds pretty familiar. Cool. Thanks for considering. Let's see.

I get that. I'd like to set one up and have in the past, but I just don't have time right now. If one doesn't show up maybe I'll consider it, but it wouldn't be my top priority project.

Agreed. It's not hard to run a XMPP server. I've already done so in the past and if it was just about me i very well might just do that again but i am really looking for something i can recommend to other people and that's where the resp

I've seen them running in the past on i2p and tor, but haven't really looked into it lately. It should be simple to set up, I'm guessing someone has a server running, but I don't have any pointers atm.

I wonder if i2p has some reliable (public or at least semi-public) XMPP servers? Preferably one that is able to communicate with clearnet. I've seen some hostnames that might be used for XMPP but there doesn't seem to be any webpage associa

It appears that promoting an overlay or OS on zzz.i2p has serious consequences. After GUIX i2pd was promoted in less than 48 hours action was taken "to bend over and double fist". OUTCH!!! If anybody knows who did what, please spill the
