Open Snitch is a firewall similar to Little Snitch (OSX). It is available on github by evilsocket. It is probably the
easiest to configure firewall. If you just started with Debian it is a good My First Firewall.

you really think that installing something from github makes it easier for an absolute beginner to set up their first firewall ?
what is wrong with iptables or ufw ? Or asked in reverse: what is so great about Open Snitch that a newbie should use it ?

I've not heard of Open Snitch so I'd be curious to hear more about it (yeah, I
could look it up :)

I find ufw very easy to use, and is in the debian repositories.
