As an aid to testing, you may wish to set up Thuderbird (as you said you
already have it running through i2p) to connect directly to the nntp server.

This allows you to see if messages are making it from def.i2p to there, or if
there are messages there you are not receiving. It may help identify if and
where there are problems.

I am running this way here. I can see what is on the nntp server at any time,
which is helpful.
