While looking into load balancing (or auto backup servers) in Tor, I decided to just try it.

Just testing stuff right now but it seems to be working pretty cleanly. Will continue testing.

I'm sure others already know the problems and/or benefits, but I'm going to try for myself and see what I find.

A side benefit is that all the search spiders crawling one of my sites, ignoring robots.txt, will create links that will only work on one version of the balanced site. Basically creating a bunch of incorrect links for their search engine.

Exactly. The same onion address is advertised by two different boxes, each pointing to a copy of the site on their own box. If one box goes down, the site appears to be running normally. If both are running (most of the time), you reach one or the other.

thought so. yes, that should do nicely. and should even work on i2p as well (not that you need it here, mind you).
