not everybody on the darknet is a scammer, of course. but surely there are a lot of them around.

the suggested conditions (50% before, 50% after) are reasonable and common. but usually, you do these kind of deals only when the suggesting party has some credibility. similar to drug markets, there are also markets for this kind of thing (and rocksolid is _not_ one of them).
if you do this kind with a random anonymous person, your chances of getting scammed rise.

have you thought about hiring a private investigator ? might be a bit less risky...
