Not necessary "boxed in". It will not raise questions about his leadership. How can the writer says it's politically untenable. Any policy engaged in the process of enforcement can be changed and adjusted to meet the changing circumstances of the need for zero infection or not. The issue is on what balance of infection is allowed that can consider to withstand people from infection. It's not easy to project.
