I look at photos of scenes most would consider stunning or beautiful and see danger. Crater Lake for example. But mostly the ones as described above, bodies of water surrounded by cliffs. Even in a car passing beneath a sheer cliff I can feel the rocks getting ready to dislodge. Yes, it is a one in a million way to die, but that doesn't mean some people can't see it before it happens. I guess we all have it from time to time, instinctively able to see fear even when we'd rather ignore it. People who take ginormous cruise ships into Alaskan waters with giant cliffs and ice bergs all around, I will never be one of them. I am adventurous in my own small way. But I'm not heavy in the back to nature thing, either roughing it for real or swinging through on a cruise ship. It might be luxury to some. To me it would be a chore - a claustrophobic bore.
