Most people don’t remember it was USSR who pulled China out of a poor agricultural country in 1950s, USSR sent over 20,000 Soviet advisors to China with blueprints to build factories, they lived in China and taught them how to produce steel, chemicals, airplanes, machines, trains, including the newest Soviet MIG fighters, bombers, ships, submarines. Everything, for a price. Not old technologies but then latest technologies. No country in human history have ever done that for another country.

Their friendship goes back a long way.

What a shame that geopolitics destroyed the relationship between the two leading Communist powers. In fact, despite my very strong pro-China stance, I must admit that China was an active participant in driving the decline of the USSR, to the point of practically being a US ally in the Cold War.

I hope geopolitics will not again ruin the relationship between the PRC and the Russian Federation. Enormous respect for both countries.

Soviets helped built the Chinese industrial base, US and EU helped building the Chinese modern industries, Arab terrorism shielded China by distracting US wrath for 20 years. The journey was extremely difficult, it wasn’t luck, it was hard work by all the people, China made full use the opportunities provided by the geopolitical world, as all countries should.

I read that Japan in the 90s helped China kick start its transport infrastructure to the tune of USD 30 billion. Although it could have been part of the post WW2 surrender terms, it is sad that it was seldom mentioned anywhere all these while. Would have been lovely for Japan and China ( also the 2 Koreas ) to nudge each other but for the US.

It’s not unnatural for China and Russia to be rivals due to their geographic proximity. But the usual rules of geopolitics are no match for the bumbling stupidity of US foreign “policy”…

Yeah your right and our dumbest policy was helping Europe during ww2! We should of just stayed as a isolationist country! If it was not for bailing out Europe in ww2 we would of never been put in the position of being the world police!

Dragosani I actually agree. World War II was the origin of US global hegemony. Except the US never became the world police as you say. It became the world’s #1 thug and thief.

Someone has had his daily dose of American “Education” - here’s some facts for you.

You lot only joined WW2 because Pearl Harbor was bombed. The IJA were already rampaging around East Asia for 8 years, and the US didn’t even place any sanctions on the IJA, and it was only after the IJA reached the colonial possessions of Europe (indochina and Burma) that the US even considered economic sanctions. In fact, before this, US corporations were all too happy to provide military grade exports to the Japanese, because profits, duh.

So stop painting yourselves as saviors in WW2 just because you happened to get fucked by the people you were supplying weapons to.

Immediately after ww2, Russia goes into Manchuria and dismantle all the industry(the only industrial base in China at that time). Then on sealing an agreement to sell China technology, it demand China to be its vassal state like East Germany on decline, it dismantle all the equipment, destroy all blueprint, withdraw all adviser and even sabotage a planeload of graduate returning from China. In the meantime demand for full payment of all the machinery. The only benefit it get is some military asset midway through the Korean war to stallmate USA. Even though Kim a vassal is encouraged to attack South Korea, then withdraw veto enabling USA to use UN forces to attack North Korea. On reaching Yalu river instead of threatening Russia, it intend to invade China with the tacit approval of Russia. A most treacheous nation that can’t be trusted.
