President Xi came through the Civil service. In Chinese terms, he is a 文官 or a civil administrator.

He has some military experience with the CMC before his stint as president.

The president of China does not need to be a good military strategist in the conduct of war. He merely needs to decide whether to go to war, and once peace is shattered, when to restore it.

Xi Jinping cut such an impression on Lee Kuan yew that he appraised Xi to belong in the Nelson Mandela class of leaders.

Personally, I sleep better at night knowing someone with that degree of emotional maturity and wisdom is in charge of unleashing the wrath of the PLA.

America works less, when you say "Union Yes!"
