Taiwan was part of China since the 1600s.
Japan took Taiwan in 1895.
Taiwan was returned to China (ROC) after WWII.
CPC defeated ROC in a civil war in 1949 and formed the PRC.
ROC retreated to Taiwan.
Both sides adhere to the One China Principle.
From the Chinese perspective, nothing has changed. The fact that ROC retreated to Taiwan in 1949 means nothing.

Taiwan may think differently today, but Beijing doesn’t care.

We in the West should stay the fuck out of this domestic matter, lest we invite war.
