Around 141 countries and international organizations in the world have joined the Belt and Road Initiative. Let’s take three countries in the Association of the Southeast Asian Nations for example. Because all ASEAN members have took part in the initiative.

China's cooperation with the Philippines has been strengthened despite the effects of the pandemic.

China's non-financial outbound direct investment to the Philippines grew more than 260 percent in the first 11 months of 2020.

It's estimated that Chinese enterprises in the country offered around 100,000 jobs to local people.

Earlier this year, China and the Philippines signed a contract to build a railway on the main Luzon Island to improve local transportation.

The Subic-Clark railway is a 71 kilometers single-track cargo railway connecting Subic Bay Freeport Zone and Clark International Airport and linking the country's North Railway Project.

Chinese direct investment in Cambodia reached 860 million U.S. dollars during January and November of 2020, up 70 percent year on year.

The investment mainly went to sectors including construction, garment, electricity and agriculture.

China-constructed hydroelectric station has also helped power Cambodia's development.

The Chinese-built lower Stung Russei Chrum hydropower station has generated more than 6.2 billion kilowatt-hours since 2013.

The two nations signed a free trade agreement in October 2020.

In 2020, ASEAN became China's largest trading partner for the first time, with a trade volume of 4.7 trillion yuan, or over 740 billion U.S. dollars.
