While walking down the street one day
A knife-wielding freako passed my way
With bold remarks he challenged me
With a whip-slashing sneer he lunged at me

"But, it's death before dishoner, Dude"
I screamed with lung-filled gusto
Though faced by blade - not armed with gun
I bluffed the frenzied nutso

I waved my fists throughout the air
Proceded to rant and rave
I took that punk up on his dare
And I write this from the grave.......

I encourage other people to read and recite my poems as long as they promise to study the words and practice proper recital before taking it to the public.

This poem is an early one of my masterpieces. Naturally, since I wrote it and have a great speaking voice, no one recite it like I can. But who knows, with practice maybe some of you can do an even better job of it. It is not easy for me to admit that other people can do things as well as I can. It takes modesty to admit such a thing. I think the next poem I write will be about my modesty. I can't wait to get started.

Imagine a war between torsos and arms and legs flying in the air attached to nothing. 100 torsos vs 100 legs and arms alone. Who would win? Remember, the torso has a head. As things stand now, arms and legs don't have brains, so when they are cut from the torso they are considered dead. But what if they didn't die? What if they decided they have taken enough and it's time to fight back, and here they come, a hundred strong, arms and legs swinging through the air "Limb Strong" against an army of torsos - "Torso Strong."

How much does brains count in war? Lot of talk about smart generals but if they are so smart how come they are in the army?

Smarts can be debated in any realm. Even athletes, their intelligence can be debated. And I believe it counts. I believe the higher the level of competition, those who win do so because of intelligence more than talent. I believe there is a certain level - the highest level where everyone is talented to some degree - talent takes a back seat to intangibles such as dedication, being able to absorb and process info under pressure, coming through in the clutch, whatever, with talent getting them there but having little or nothing to do with their success or failure. So I guess some generals are smart compared to others generals. But that does not make them smarter than me.

I am not sure that applies universally. Some of these athletes are definetly not smart. But I do agree intelligence in sports is required to excel. Butnot always. Tyson is not smart but he is tenacious. Tenacity is an ingredient.

But maybe Tyson is smart in his own way. He was overrated as a fighter in my opinion. They fed him a lot of no names. He did go through them easy though. But when he had to go up against guys who didn't quit when he thought they should, he'd be in trouble. I was the same as a pool player. I was no champ, but I was pretty good. I'd be playing some guy and know I'm better than he is, I can do a lot more than he ever could on the table - yet here is still coming at me an hour after I set out to knock him out quick. When it doesn't happen as I assume I can easily cave in to "the grinders." Tyson was that way, sort of. When they didn't go down as he expected and they just keep coming he gives up. I can see it. I used to follow boxing.. Knew all the contenders, watched lots of bouts on TV, back in L.A., live from the Olympic. Anyway, intelligence is hard to define. You can't be completed stupid and score high on a standard IQ test, but you don't have to be really smart either. I am good at IQ tests, but only certain parts. The parts I'm bad at are the ones I must assume are the genuine tests of intelligence, like the ones where you are asked to put this piece of puzzle, certain shapes and so forth, up against the ones it matches. I am bad at it.. But it requires no schooling as is the case with tests involving words and other things that must be learned. I guess the best intelligence test is life. And death.
