I had on the TV radio station last night and heard kd Lang singing . I like to close my eyes and try to guess who's singing. I'm good at it. Mostly o lder type stuff . I'm good at IDing voices. I keep the smartphone by the bed and use it to look up actors or singers or whatever parades before my eyes and ears on TV, then google them up to check their background. "Are they Jewish? Are they related to someone already in the biz? I'm after the real lowdown. No big deal but I thought the heritage 'reveal/bragadocio' for Lang was pretty funny and could even have gone a bit further.

I heard her on the radio 20 years ago or whenever and liked the sound. She's from Western Canada. I did not know that, but the song had a Western feel to it, like the desert and the wind. I have heard her do things I don't like. My post was not so much about her but about myself as usual - the ridiculousness of looking up her history wondering if there could be Jew in there somewhere, or maybe related to someone in the music biz or whatever - and they laid that long list of ethnic backgrounds on me. It was funny. When people lay 4 or 5 on me I can take it because I know I'm 1/4 Irish, 1/4 Austrian, and 1/2 Arab. That's 3. Of course there could be other stuff in there somewhere, including even the Negro. I don't care. Point is, people who know or think they know their exact ancestry are really egotists, aren't they?
