After a half century of using your social security number,

How many people (with Medicare) know that set?

I have the HMO type of old age insurance and have no idea of the number
but just hand them the card which is what they ask for at the doctors
office. They put it in a card reader that goes to the computer.
Never have had to show the medicare card.

I have had cards scanned numerous times in the past but not so much now
seeing the same providers that have all the info. They usually ask for
drivers license, medicare card and supplemental insurance cards. Blood
lab last week to check in there was a machine that scanned the drivers
license.

Doctors ask for the card and the suplemental insurance card, but I've
also had to fill in the medicare number on a computer a couple times. I
keep all this stuff in a computer file, including things in my wallet
because my wallet is usually downstairs and the computer is upstairs.

1. The health system computer has all of that on file
2. My Advantage plan stands between me and Medicare

I know mine, my wife's and my children's SSNs by heart. Maybe it has
something to do with being in the Air Force at one time and having to
repeat mine over and over and over...
