Canadian Police Advise Leaving Car Keys in Front Door to Deter Break-Ins and Minimize Conflict with Thieves

In the face of an alarming rise in car thefts, Toronto Police Service (TPS) Constable Marco Ricciardi has offered a controversial tip to residents: leave car keys in the front door to avoid violent home invasions.

During a community safety meeting in Etobicoke, Constable Ricciardi addressed the issue, stating, “To prevent the possibility of being attacked in your home, leave your fobs at your front door because they’re breaking into your home to steal your car. They
don’t want anything else.”

In short, don’t make it hard for thieves to steal your car. This is what an unarmed society looks like.

This suggestion has come as Toronto grapples with a car theft rate that sees a vehicle stolen every six minutes, a costly crime spree racking up nearly $1 billion annually, according to the Canadian Finance and Leasing Association (CFLA).

Toronto has witnessed a 400% surge in home invasions and break-ins for auto thefts, underscoring a troubling trend of increased violence and the use of firearms by criminals targeting vehicles, Global News reported.

Thieves have a Pb deficiency. To cure the feral invaders, inject them with the Minimum Daily Adult Requirement.

Illegal American guns are flooding into Canada and Mexico. That's the
root of the problem.

What do they do with the car thieves in Canada ?

We need to bring back the old rules where we hang horse thieves in the
US. Each vehicle has many horses under the hood.

When many chrimes are commited by the same people over and over we need
to eliminate those people.

That'w a good idea, but I have an add-on that will make it better. Leave
the fob where they will find it, but remove the distributor rotor so
they still can't steal the car. Ezy-Pezy.

In the small towns and rural areas, the random opportunistic thefts
are often the result of the keys being left in the truck.. Yep.
In the urban areas many of the thefts are upscale vehicles -
by professional thieves who use sophicated electronic code
devices. These vehicles are soon on the way to the port in
Montreal - where organized crime has ruled for many years.
The courts are back-logged so bad that the thieves will get
a plea-bargain wrist-slap and be back-in-business asap.

I think the last vehicle I've owned with a rotor was my 1980 F100.
.... not 100 % sure but I think the '86 Cutlas was electronic
and everything since then for me.
