Not only do I hope I never need a lawyer or doctor for anything, I hope I never need a professional of any kind. That is my idea of success, making it through life without needing a professional. And I am beginning to think I can do just that. Most professionals are full of ineptitude to the point where they not only don't do anything for you, you may come away worse than before you went in. The dentist for instance. I'll go in and complain about a tooth, maybe a small hole in it, a filling came out, whatever - and they'll go through all the motions, putting in a new filling and sending me on my way, and when I get home and the novocaine wears off it feels worse than before. Not brutal or I'd have it pulled, but worse, every time. I am feeling little faith in professionals of all stripes and am at the point of not caring, or at least trying not to care, but not too hard because that too is too much work. It is time to become inventive. We must think and do for ourselves, even if it means bucking convention all the way. Like for instance, the cost of shoes - it keeps going up. Not being able to buy decent shoes pisses me off. But if I couldn't find shoes anywhere I know I'd get creative in some way, using cardboard or tape or who knows what to cover my feet. I have been using a cellphone or camera case I got at the dollar store as a wallet for years even though that was not its intended purpose. We must become more creative and inventive all the way around or the professionals will have us in their pockets in no time flat.

Bozo! Confession. I knew Ras a long time ago but elected to keep it a secret in this group, mainly because of your ongoing new-age post 9/11 Z generation schizo affinity/abhorence for the man. But I knew the guy before he went nuts. He was always a bit 'odd'. Most knew and and accepted it. But some would heap scorn and ridicule upon the psychotic semi-genius. He didn't like it, and I don't blame him. He figured he'd better get some professional help. He went to a shrink. He was prescribed meds. Within weeks of taking them I could see a difference. He was more nuts than before. He knew it too. He's lay off the meds, trying to break it cold turkey. But the nuttiness that consumed him during withdrawals was too much, he turned back to the meds. Bozo, what you don't understand is that when you tell Ras to take his meds, that's when he's already taking them. You need to tell him to get off the meds. But the cold turkey withdrawals are bad. Real bad. Maybe we can come up with some kind of new and improved medication to help Ras get off the ones he's on now.
