Ganging up against China is certainly the framework. But within this publicly acknowledged
framework, each nation has its own calculation.

Among the three, the US is most enthusiastic to contain China. The UK wants to
show the world that it is still a great power although it is now on its own. For Australia,
the primary goal is likely to acquire submarine technology from the US. Of course, having
nuclear submarine by itself would also uplift it into the a restricted club currently limited to
6, all with nuclear weapons.

The key is whether the US would allow significant technological transfer to Australia. If not.
AUKUS would remain a framework with uncertain future.
