Their mastering of the English language allows them to get better jobs in Hong Kong and feel better
than average Hong Kongers. Of course they do not like Hong Kong's new policy of de-emphasizing
English.

But then, even beggars are in the UK likely to be as proficient in English as them. Most would not
get the respect as they did in Hong Kong and would not do well.

Modest simplifications: English creates "the value added" of HK as
"The Gateway of China". Be aware of unintended/unwanted consequences.
Life is a game of achieving a few (partially) contradicting goals at once.

It isn't my duty to balance importance of contradicting goals in HK case.

IMHO HKers without such skill will be "less likely" to take relocation
*risks*. Do not be afraid to cross more obvious t. Anyway I am 90% sure
that mass+ emigration from HK to UK will change UK acceptance policies.

Are you sure you do not know that the UK distinguish between holders of BNO passport and holders of regular passport?

1. Not all jobs are open to all subjects equally.
2. Given the deteriorating relationship between the UK and China, non-Europeans immigrants would be naturally suspected like what have happened in the US.

For one person it is a binary choice: emigrate/stay.
For "A Big Family" securing a few (more than one) "safe landing points"
(relatives) in UK may be sensible policy of keeping options open.
