I have an old JessEm router lift and table top that I'd like to mount on a
shop-made table but I can't figure out how to do it with the supplied
hardware. I wrote to JessEm and asked for help, and they basically replied
"F/U, we don't help people who don't buy our table." Is anyone familiar
with this table top and can offer advice on how to mount it?

Thanks...

I am not familiar with exactly what you have, but I installed a Woodpecker
router plate by routing a ledge in a piece of melamine. I created the "table"
by replacing my right side table saw extension.

https://i.imgur.com/jLedUBT.jpg

The plate was my annual "What tool does Dad want for Christmas this year?"
gift from the kids, so I had them spend the extra ~$16 for the template.

https://i.imgur.com/ahgmk0C.jpg

Is there something different about the JessEm unit that prevents this type
of install?

what do you mean by "table top". I am confused because you want to mount it to a table. Do you mean a router table insert? Router installs in a table are pretty straightforward. What hardware are you talking about? Can you post a picture?

I used flat head screws through the top into cross-dowels in the
carcass of the table. All stainless.

Sorry if I confused you. No, not an insert. What I have is a JessEm Mast-
R-Top, Model 03004A (https://jessem.com/products/phenolic-mast-r-top%E2%84%
A2), and I want to mount it on a shop built cabinet.

Build your cabinet, install corner braces and screw up through the bottom of the braces
into the JessEm.

I mounted my store bought router table top to a Habitat for Humanity ReStore Store kitchen base cabinet using a piano hinge located on one edge. A latch holds everything tight yet allows access to underneath if needed. Simple, not complicated and no need for their hardware.

You set it on top of the cabinet and screw it down. What do you
perceive the problem to be?

I perceive the problem to be, Mr. Clarke, that I don't want to drill holes
in the top of the table top...and there's no need to be snarky.

"screw it down" can also mean "screw it up", as in up from the bottom
like I suggested earlier.

Build your cabinet, install corner braces and screw up through the bottom
of the braces into the JessEm.

https://www.cabinetcorp.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/brace-corner-CabinetCorp.jpg

I think that there a few of us that are confused by what the problem is. I'm not
being snarky. Perhaps if you explained exactly why you are having trouble
determining how to attach the top, we could be more specific with our suggestions.

It already has holes. Use them. If there's a reason you can't you
should have stated it. We should not have to pull details out of you
like they were teeth.

That's exactly what I did and it worked very well. It doesn't look
bad at all.

Pocket holes in the cabinet and screw up into the table would work
too.

"Screw it up" is certainly a possibility. There's no reason to
over-think this.

IRRC, (It's been 10 years) there are pilot holes on the bottom used to
screw through their stand, up into the top. Use them. If you have
to, use a piece of 3/4" plywood or even MDF (flatter) as an interposer
between the two. Use flat head screws so there won't be any
interference.

There are a hundred ways to do this.
