This is comparatively on topic,

Medics attempting to reach snake bite victim in Loch Raven Watershed
https://www.newsbreak.com/news/2343214375801/medics-attempting-to-reach-snake-bite-victim-in-loch-raven-watershed?s=oldSite&ss=dmg_local_briefing_fromweb.web2

GLEN ARM, MD—Medics are attempting to reach an individual who has been
bitten by a snake in the Loch Raven Watershed.

An exact location has not been given, but on Monday morning, the
Providence Volunteer Fire Company reported that special operations
personnel were using an ATV to try to reach the victim.

Units from the Baltimore County Fire Department are also on the scene
and attempting to provide treatment.

There has been no word on the victim’s condition.

2nd encounter in a state park this year! I read article that Copperheads
were going to be out in force cause of the cicadas

second copperhead bite reported in maryland ( that I've seen ) And
people say they aren't here ??

they like to be near water. yes copperheads are in Maryland and
Pennsylvania and everywhere

Smell like cucumbers

UPDATE: An adult female was located and removed from the woods onboard
PVFC ATV-29. An EMS crew treated and transported the adult female to a
hospital in stable condition for treatment from a suspected copperhead
bite.

When I was in Maine, they told me there are no poisonous snakes in
Maine, and I've been sticking with that statement even though I'm in
Maryland now.

I hate to be pedantic but there are no native poisonous snakes in the
US. We do have some venomous ones tho. ;-)
In the grand scale of venomous snakes copperheads are not that bad but
you do have plenty in Maryland. People seldom die from a copperhead
bite. It is no doubt your most popular venomous snake once you get
down out of the western mountains where you might see a timber
rattler.
I used to see a copperhead occasionally but not often. You just have
to look for the Hershey Kiss pattern on the body to know if it is a
copperhead.
We don't really have them here. The range is just a small area in the
pan handle on the Georgia border.
We have Water Moccasins, Diamond Back Rattlers, Pygmy Rattlers and
Coral Snakes. I seldom see them either. My local snakes are mostly
Red Rat snakes, Black Racers, Ring Necks, Blind Snakes and Glass
Lizards

Maybe their range has shrunk, but back in the 1970s, when I used to
spend all summer in rural CT, there were plenty of copperheads in the
woods, usually under or adjacent to rock piles. Agree that their
venomous bite is usually far less toxic than that from a coral snake or
a timber rattler but even so those bites deserve prompt (emergency)
medical attention. No garter snakes in your local area?

Copper heads seem to be everywhere in the mid Atlantic states. Maybe I
didn't make that clear.
I am not sure I ever saw a garter snake here. Mostly it is rat snakes
and black racers.

I saw a garter snake last month, first time in all these years. About a
yard long. Grass needed mowing so it was happy. But when I disturbed
the area, as soon as I saw it it was headed towards my neighbor's
