A 48 year old woman from Kentucky was visiting her boyfriend in El Paso, TX and at 2PM in the afternoon she summoned an Uber to take her to a casino. While driving along, she saw signs for Juarez Mexico, which is across the border from El Paso, so she decided he was kidnapping her to Mexico, pulled out a pistol and shot him multiple times in the back of the head. The car crashed, she took a picture of the dying driver and sent it to her boyfriend, then called 911. The driver was a 52 year old Latino man with a family. He had been driving for Uber for 3 weeks, this was his last pickup of the day. The car was on the correct route to take her to her destination. Another fine example of an armed citizen using a gun to defend themselves. And DeSantis just removed the existing permit and training requirements in FL that were required for carry. Great idea. Requiring at least that, education on the law and that using a gun should be your last resort, sure makes sense, is no terrible imposition and could help.

Hey, don't be knocking DeSantis. He is assuring our freedom by taking
away some of our rights and telling us what we can and cannot do and
what books not to read.
Why waste time in a class for gun safety when we can just learn by
shooting it.

I'm sorry if this comment seems to lessen the seriousness here. I don't
mean it that way. In 1964/5 Indianapolis might have been the largest
city in America without an expressway. In the fall, my mother and I
drove me to college in Chicago (4 hours each way), and she had to drive
home by herself. Later when I talked to her she said on the ramp I told
her to take she saw a sign that said Gary, Indiana. "I don't want to go
to Gary Indiana!!" She didn't say much when I explained it to her.

But of course she didn't kill anyone.

Seems to me it's obvious. There must be something wrong with that
woman, though I"m not saying it's enough for an insanity defense. But
yes, if she didn't have a gun she wouldn't have done it. Guns are heavy
and thus a nuisance to carry one for the rare times one would have any
use for one.

The reason I carry a gun is that they are not near as heavy to carry as
a cop.

The Democrats want to grab We the People's guns.

But first they have to create a crisis with various flavors of gun homicides and lots of them.

Next, to solve the 'crisis', the rat bastards will enact some radical gun legislation.

The primary reason I don't carry a gun is that in my 6+ decades of life
on this planet the number of times I wish I had a gun is zero.

The secondary reason I don't carry a gun is that whether to live my life
in fear, or not, is a choice, and I choose not to live my life in fear.

As a kid, I carried a small jack knife for a few months, but I outgrew
that pretty quickly.
