These questions were written to be asked in Toronto on 2014-01-20,
and should be interpreted accordingly. All questions were written
by members of the Cellar Rats, but have been reformatted and may
have been retyped and/or edited by me. I will reveal the correct
answers in about 3 days.

For further information, including an explanation of the """
notation that may appear in these rounds, see my 2022-09-09
companion posting on "Reposted Questions from the Canadian
Inquisition (RQFTCI*)".

* Game 2, Round 4 - Canadiana Literature - Playwrights

Who wrote the following Canadian theatrical works? Some titles
given here have been translated from French.

1. "Balconville".
2. "Leaving Home".
3. "Elizabeth Rex".
4. "The Penelopiad".
5. "Yesterday the Children were Dancing".
6. "Dry Lips Oughta Move to Kapuskasing".
7. "The Fat Woman Next Door is Pregnant".
8. "My Boyfriend's Back and There's Gonna be Laundry".
9. "2 Pianos, 4 Hands". (Two authors; name either one.)
10. "Maggie and Pierre". (Two authors; name the one who also
played both title characters on stage.)

* Game 2, Round 6 - Geography - National Animals

Wikipedia includes a list of national animals for various countries.
According to this source, what countries have the following real
or mythological creatures as national animals?

*Note:* the list in Wikipedia appears to have been drastically
changed since this game was originally played. I will only accept
the answers that were accepted in the original game. One of them
is not an independent country.

1. Cow.
2. Jaguar.
3. Vicuña.
4. Hoopoe.
5. Phoenix.
6. Unicorn.
7. Springbok.
8. Komodo dragon.
9. Marco Polo sheep.
10. Ringtailed lemur.

Just a note on the accuracy of the Wikipedia article as it was in January 2014. At the time this round was originally played, there were 148 countries and territories covered in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_national_animals. Now there are only 39 countries included. On the other hand, there are *more* cited sources now than there were then.

Of the ten questions, the only one which would have both a valid answer according to the 2014 list and the current Wikipedia article is springbok (South Africa).
