BTW, of the 1000 or so arrested, iirc 300 pled guilty and 300 or so have
been convicted. So whatever T thinks would be terrible if 1000 were
convicted, whatever he wants to believe isn't true, is still true
because of the 300+ who were convicted.

trespassers, and insurrectionists who did more than a million dollars of
damage to the Capitol and were responsible for 5 deaths and hundreds of
injuries to Capitol police. Many of those convicted and who pled

They even have a list of who checked out what.
And the J6 kangaroo committee did look at the
evidence that clearly showed that this was not
an insurrection at chose not to release it.

It occurred to me how you could accept this notion.

The crimes committed on Jan. 6 could be said to involve politics. Most
of the rioters were from the far-right wing of the Republican party, or
the right wing. Even if they were not registered voters, they supported
the same views. Trump was nominated by the Republican National
Convention, claimed to be a Republican, and was elected on the
Republican ticket. That's a political party and they were attacking the
Capitol police and vandalizing the Capitol, and the offices of Congress
members in support of one mmember of one political party, who was
claiming that an election, a political event, had cheated him.

That does NOT make what the insurrectionists did political crimes and it
does not make them political prisoners.

A political prisoner is one who has NOT committed actual crimes but is
imprisoned by the government because their views are thought by the
police or the military or the exectuive to endanger the rule of the
government. Their views, their speech, but not their criminal actions.

Because I disagree with you politically, if I hit you or killed you and
I was arrested, I would not be a political prisoner. If I insulted you
on the basis of your politics and said you** should be thrown out off
office and they arrested me for that, no more, in that case I would be a
political prisoner.

In many other countries, and maybe*** in the USA sometimes, the real
reason people are arrested is political and they lie and claim they were
violating the law. Those are political prisoners, but that does not
apply to Jan. 66. you could watch on tv live, and you can still see it
on video, that the Jan 6 defendants were doign all the crimes the
government said they were doing.

the next time someone tells you that the Jan 5 prisoners are political
prisoners, you can explain to them that they are not using the words
correctly.

**The closest I can think of to that in the USA recently is that Disney
Corporation was criticial of DeSantis's Don't Say Gay law. They didn't
riot or vandalize anything or stab anyone with a flagpole. And in
return, instead of just critizing Disney in return, or insulting whoever
signed the Disney statement, or telling people to boycott Disney World,
he used the power of the state of Florida for retribution. Not his own
personal power but the power of the state of Florida, which is not meant
to be used as a personal weapon. That was a political attack and
although he didn't take anyone prisoner, it's just the same thing that
dictators do when anyone gets in their way. Were, God forbid, DeSantis
ever be president, he's just the sort of guy who would imprison people
for their words.

Same thing about outlawing Norwegian Cruise lines from insisting on
Covid vaccination before going on one of their cruises. Apparently he
thinks that people have an inherent right to go on a cruise, but
whatever his reason, he tried to use the power of the state for his
personal views. Probably political views, that is, calculated to get
votes. (I don't remember hearing the end of this story and I had to
search the web. AFAICT Norwegian won in court -- good -- unless
something happened later that did not show up in Google. )

a trial is a violation of their civil rights.

This is clearly a slam at Trump supporters.
They are political prisoners.

I thought that people should have the right to go on a cruise that
assures them that everyone on the cruise will have taken all reasonable
steps to reduce their risk of spreading covid. At that time, I would not
have considered any cruise without those precautions. I imagine, the
cruise companies KNEW that without those guarantees, they would have a
hard time getting people to sign up.
