China IS moving in. It is ingratiating itself with
both the leftover government AND Taliban. It will
be indispensible, addictive.

And wind up in-charge.

Issues ? Pit faction against faction, making $$$
by dealing with all sides. The GOAL is the exotic
mineral wealth there, not the territory per-se.
Any other issues - who cares ?

As for what they're "waiting for" ... it will take
a few more months for all the other external powers
to fully withdraw and dis-engage. I see Joe has
sent in some B-52s, but it's all for looks, won't
change anything. THEN ......

The USA/EU/NATO/Etc are EAGER to get the hell out
of Afghanistan. Once done, if China wants it, China
can HAVE it. As for the Afghanis ... they just jumped
from frying-pan to fire - but that's the usual
life there .......

Great to see Byker at the end of his wits. With hindsight, we can fairly say the US spent 20 years, almost US$3 trillion, and a lot of blood on both sides to prepare Afghanistan for China. Great job. China is going into Afghanistan for trade. The Chinese are smart and good.

The home country gets infrastructure... even when the home country cannot pay, China cannot take the highways, railroads, airports, seaports,... back to China. They stay where it was built!!! Therefore the home country cannot lose... The infrastructure will benefit the people...
