That sucks. My Samsung does not give me ads at all, but some news
sources do when I open them. Phone is quiet otherwise.

Check your setting, there may be a "quiet time" you can set to stop them.

If you're with one of the big national carriers, you might want to stop
by the nearest store and show them what you're seeing. They should be
able to quickly get things sorted.

I stopped by my cell phone carrier. (Xf+++ity)

They wanted to sell me another phone that they claim will not bombard me with constant ads.

I went to Veri++++(my former carrier) to see what they had to offer.

They claimed to have a phone that does not bombard me with constant ads.

At a cost of $106.

I see a pattern here.

I get asked about notifications when I visit a web site. No, a thousand times no.
Since we're kinda, sorta on the subject, secondary carrier Ting has high ratings on Consumer Reports.
It isn't in Nebraska but it's good in a lot of places.
In order of satisfaction. Ting, Consumer Cellular, Mint Mobile, Credo Mobile, Google Fi, Republic Wireless.
I have an iPhone 7 Plus that I bought on EBay. I've been using U.S. Mobile which piggybacks off Verizon.

A factory restore will cause the loss of ALL of my contacts.

My experience is that you can backup whatever such things you want for
future restores.

Yes, you most certainly do. You said you have a Google Pixel 6a. There's
nothing about that phone that requires you to get ads as you've
described.

Of course, but it's a temporary loss, right, because you'll surely back
up everything that you don't want to lose? I assumed you know that. That
includes contacts, photos, videos, voicemails, certain text messages,
and whatever you want to keep. Back it all up, do the restore, then
restore the things that you've saved. The easier route, of course, is to
talk to the tech folks at your local Xfinity store, but you tried that
and couldn't make your way past the salesperson. On second thought, just
ask them to do the factory restore for you. They should know how to back
up and restore all of your personal data.

It would be less acceptable to me than it appears to be to you. I've
already given you two avenues to get the issue resolved, a visit to the
store to talk to their technical folks and not the salespeople, and the
factory reset, but all I get in return is why you can't do it. Sounds
like you're OK with the ads.

Absolutely, and you should do that anyhow in case you lose your phone.

MyPhoneExplorer, a free app, will back up contacts, texts, copy files to
or from the PC, sync contacts in both direction, probably sync texts in
both direections, and even allow texting from the PC (as long as the
phone is on.) It probably does even more than all this.

That's all you have to do.

know but whoever you talked to only wanted to sell something. Ask to
talk to their tech guy.

AIUI, no phone is especailly likely to get ads, no phone by its own
nature gets ads. I only get a few ads and only when I'm using an
optional app that told me in advance that it would give me ads.

If you are still having pain, it's hard to concentrate, and easy to get
angry, but keep your eye on the real problem.

I have had chronic neck and back pain for 30+ years. (Multiple car wrecks and being hit by a car while riding my bicycle.)

So far, 4 doctors have failed to treat that pain. (including a pain specialist doctor.)

They know how to treat that pain, but have chosen not too.

A recent visit to an Emergency room and the attending doctor failed to treat my pain.

Only other people who have constant pain can understand the nature of constant pain.

It is a form of torture.

I have known 3 such people.
