A Florida woman is accused of fatally shooting a woman she had previously
brought into her home, police say, according to multiple reports.

Miami Gardens police say Joyce Ann Small approached a woman outside a
library in Miami Gardens and shot her to death, according to reports from
NBC Miami, CBS Miami and Local 10. Police say the victim begged for her
life before she was shot, Local 10 reported.

Police said Small, 64, said that the victim, who she reportedly called
Sarai, was homeless; Small said she would take the victim into her home to
shower and sleep on occasion, Local 10 reported.

Authorities also allege that Small said she suspected Sarai of having an
affair with her boyfriend, who was married to another woman, the outlets
reported. According to the reports, Small told police she would spy on
Sarai and alleged that Sarai had been mistreating her and beating her up
over the last few months.

According to the arrest report, which was obtained by Local 10 and the
other outlets, security camera footage allegedly showed Small come out
from the bushes to ambush the victim, who was walking toward the library
parking lot. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, reported Local
10.

The gun was found at the scene, police said in the report.

Small was charged with first-degree murder and is being held without bail
at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, jail records indicate.
Jail records did not indicate when she was next due in court, but Local 10
reported that she is currently being represented by a public defender.
