And a victory in PA House special election for the blue team.
Jim Prokopiak's win holds the one-seat majority.

This election illustrates why Republicans do NOT want to resolve the border problem. They
got Roe overturned and now they've lost enough women voters that it's gotten tough for
them to keep incumbents in office, let alone flip a seat.

If the border gets resolved, they'll lose enough of those single issue voters to deprive
them of even more votes.

I ask again, why didn't Trump build the wall he promised?

Why didn't he stop the flow?

Republicans cannot resolve the border problem. The president can
resolve the border problem.

If the president resolved the border issue, he would get those single
issue voters.

The "orgasm" just started a few months ago. That is the only "problem"
that needs IMMEDIATE attention.

That isn't true. The border problem is due to a seriously outdated and inadequate
immigration system. Fixing that takes an act of Congress. Such actions as the President
CAN take require money and THAT takes an act of Congress.

Biden has asked for money for admin and courts to speed up deportations and asylum
hearings.
Senate Republicans turned him down because he didn't ask for border security money.
Biden's next request was for border security money but Senate Republicans turned him down
because he didn't request more enforcement money!

Now a Republican has presented a bi partisan bill for debate and the House Republicans
won't even discuss it because candidate Trump told them not to because he needs to run on
the issue. He can't win without some major wedge issue that appeals to the right.

This mess is as much if not more the fault of Trump and GOP leadership as it is Biden's.

>> If the border gets resolved, they'll lose enough of those single issue voters to deprive

>

Except he can't do it alone. At the very least he needs money to implement any such plans
and the Republicans won't give it to him.

>> I ask again, why didn't Trump build the wall he promised?
>
>You do not know? He built as much as he was allowed to build.

He wasn't "allowed" to build any. His own party denied his request for wall funding so he
ended up doing an end run and raiding the Pentagon budget for funds. What he built was so
shoddy Biden had to repair it despite his promise to stop the wall. In addition to
repairing Trump's broken wall, Biden has reinforced other sections *and* built new wall
all of which drew heat from his left.

>The "orgasm" just started a few months ago. That is the only "problem"
>that needs IMMEDIATE attention.

There are plenty issues that need immediate attention. Taiwan, Israel and Ukraine need
defense aid. Finalized appropriations bills need to be passed instead of kicking the can
down the road. The border problem is severe and can only be addressed by Congress either
in the form of major immigration legislation or loosening the purse strings so Biden can
work to get it under control. He's actually had to send down the military to help CBP
because they're overwhelmed.

The system has been screwed up for 50 years yet we have never witnessed the number of illegal
migrants that we have under Joe Biden.

So Biden rescinded the Trump policies, literally on day one of his presidency and now he wants
funds to make processing more efficient?
That will just allow even more illegal migrants into the country.
Come on man.

We wouldn't have this mess if Joe Biden has just left things alone.
But he didn't and now he owns it and he can cry all he wants about the big bad republicans not
approving his bill but the people know who caused this mess and it'a Joe Biden.

> This mess is as much if not more the fault of Trump and GOP leadership as it is Biden's.

Nope.
Not even close.
Biden's campaign in part was a "come one come all and the USA will accept you" and they did.
Trump had nothing to do with it.

He can reinstate the Trump policies. And if Biden is so pro border security why is he trying
everything to stop Texas from enforcing their border?
But he will never do that.

With Joe Biden at the helm you can be assured that things will turn to shit real fast.
And they are already.
Have we hit 10 million illegal migrants under Biden's watch yet?

Ask the progressives in so called sanctuary cities what they think about Biden's border policy
compared to Trump's.

I usually understand what Swill is saying and sometimes he has
interesting views on current situations, but on the border issues, he is
off his game completely. The current mess is a complete disaster and he
could have prevented it and he could close the border completely to
anyone without proper admission papers.

Doesn't make it his fault. Unemployment is now 3.4%. It hasn't been that low since 1968.

Record numbers of migrants are coming because there are record numbers of jobs to fill.
Start putting employers in jail for hiring illegals and they'll not only stop coming,
they'll leave in droves.

ICE has announced they may have to release tens of thousands of detainees because of a
$700M budget shortfall. If they don't have the money to do what little they're already
doing, how do you expect them to do more?

How are you going to deport illegals if you don't give them due process? That takes
money. It also takes money to secure the border and build fence. Congress controls the
purse strings. If they won't cough up funding, Biden can't do anything.

>> Now a Republican has presented a bi partisan bill for debate and the House Republicans

>We wouldn't have this mess if Joe Biden has just left things alone.

That's not true. Trump's policies weren't working as well as you think. Covid and Covid
shutdown job loss is what was keeping them home. Please tell me you're smart enough to
see the truth in that. Again, border flow greatly slowed not because Trump signed some
decree for them to stay home, but because there weren't any jobs here.

Stop the hiring. Put a few employers in jail for breaking the law for hiring illegals.
The jobs will dry up and so will the border flow.

>But he didn't and now he owns it and he can cry all he wants about the big bad republicans not
>approving his bill but the people know who caused this mess and it'a Joe Biden.

No, it's NOT. Why do you insist on blaming the "king" for everything you don't like? You
won't give him credit for the economy but you'll blame him for the border. This is called
hypocrisy. It is partisan driven. Stop claiming you're not partisan. Clearly you are.

Yep.

It's right on target.

He had nothing to do with the slow border flow in 2020 either.

>>>> If the border gets resolved, they'll lose enough of those single issue voters to deprive

>>>
>>>If the president resolved the border issue, he would get those single

If BIDEN resolves it, HE will get those votes. WHOEVER resolves it will get the votes.
That's why Trump doesn't want the House to discuss the bill.

Trump would be perfectly happy giving Europe to Putin. That's why he's told the House to
hold up Ukraine funding. He opposes aid to Israel and Taiwan because Biden wants it. Iow,
Trump is opposing popular policies just to be opposing them. If Trump were President, the
House would already have passed funding for Israel.

Trump is also in China's pocket. This has been proved here over and over again with
multiple international references of Trump working FOR China. This means he would
continue to oppose Taiwan defense aid. The Republicans would claim they can't aid Taiwan
because it's a deficit buster and then proceed to pass a budget that vastly increases the
deficit.

2016 - $585B Obama (who inherited a deficit of $1500B)
2017 - $665B Trump
2018 - $779B Trump
2019 - $984M Trump
Covid is an outlier so I don't hold that against him but for the record it was $3,132B and
2021 was $2,775B.

Next time Republicans start lying to you about their dedication to balanced budgets and
deficit reduction, like they did last winter as an excuse to hold up appropriations, refer
to this info sourced from:
<https://www.usgovernmentspending.com/federal_deficit>

>> Except he can't do it alone. At the very least he needs money to implement any such plans

What good would that do? Trump policies only worked because Covid shut everything down.

>And if Biden is so pro border security why is he trying
>everything to stop Texas from enforcing their border?

Because it's not state responsibility. It's an infringement on Federal power and you know
full well Texas will never follow due process.

>But he will never do that.

And he shouldn't. What he should do is start jailing employers who hire undocumented
workers.

The quotation marks are wrong, and are indicative of your pretentious, pompous
assholery. Stop using them.

Biden does need new legislation. The resource needed to close the border are not
there.

How? A thousand miles of desolate, empty terrain. How did you
catch everyone without more money for a larger Border Guard.

Some of them are easy to see and count because they seek out
Border Guard to surrender to them and request asylum. However the
ones not seeking asylum do their best to remain invisible until
they reach civilisation and hide amongst us. How can you
completely close the border to these?

The second kind can be quickly returned with an expedited
deportation if they are caught within a hundred miles.

Under current law the first kind get to remain here until an
asylum hearing. The elapsed time is dominated by Republicans's
refusal to amend the laws and pay for more judges.

Bullshit.

Tell me how Biden is supposed to seal two thousand miles of border with no money. Run up
and down the Rio Grande with a megaphone yelling, "Don't you dare!"?

ICE has announced that due to a budget shortfall of $700m they may be forced to release
thousands of detainees.

The Republicans are blocking any border solution by blocking appropriations for border
management.

He's already done as much as he could do with the appropriations he's gotten and taken
heat from Democrats for even doing that.

<https://missouriindependent.com/2023/10/16/bidens-go-ahead-for-added-border-wall-draws-criticism-from-democrats-in-congress/>

He's repaired wall, upgraded wall, built new wall and even sent in the military to help
CBP.

Twice.

September 21, 2023
"Biden administration sending 800 new troops to border amid migrant crisis "
<https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/4215822-biden-administration-sending-800-new-troops-to-southern-border/>

May 2, 2023:
"The Biden administration will deploy 1,500 additional military personnel to augment
security at the southern border, U.S. officials said Tuesday, as the looming end of
pandemic-era immigration policies has officials bracing for a surge in illegal crossings."
<https://www.texastribune.org/2023/05/02/border-troops-biden-title-42/>

"Hundreds of active-duty U.S. troops are descending on the Mexican border this week, but
they’re not authorized to make arrests, use their weapons or do much more than
administrative work.

"That’s making the military deployment — timed for the end of pandemic-era immigration
restrictions — a classic no-win political situation for the Biden administration, which is
getting hit from at least one prominent Democrat for perpetuating Trump-era militarization
of the border, and from Republicans who say the mission will be utterly ineffectual."
<https://www.politico.com/news/2023/05/12/biden-trump-troops-us-mexico-border-00096439>

Got that? "No-win political situation"

Democrats say he's doing too much, Republicans that he's not doing enough. Biden himself
wants to do more but the money has run out. Or have you guys forgotten the House is only
passing *temporary* spending bills? When is the next shutdown due? Oh, yeah, first week
of March.

"1/19/24 Update: President Joe Biden signed into law a short-term funding extension on
Friday, the White House announced, averting a partial government shutdown. The short-term
funding extension sets up two new funding deadlines on March 1 and March 8."
<https://research.arizona.edu/administration/2023-federal-government-shutdown>

Without money, the President can do nothing.

If Republicans actually want the border mess fixed, they're going to have to cough up the
cash.

The border is already closed to anybody without papers - at its entry points. But what
about the other two thousand miles?

They climb the wall.
They tunnel under it.
They cross the desert on wildlife migration trails.

HOW DO YOU CLOSE THE ENTIRE BORDER?

Those you describe are not in the thousands a day. They are the few and
