He did get into accent mode a few times but thankfully did not remain in them long. All these fuckers overact if given the chance. I saw it big time from Peck in "To Kill a Mockingbird" in the courtroom scenes where he was called upon to orate - and it sucked. They needed a guy like Ray Massey for that part. But no, they had to get adamant and stick with Greg Peck.

There was that classic "Three Stooges in Orbit" starring Moe, Larry and
Joe DeRita . I've always felt that if Jerry Howard had still been alive,
and had taken the part played by DeRita, the movie would have swept the
Oscars. "Lawrence of Arabia" never would have stood a chance. Larry Fine
and the Howard brothers were all refined Shakespearean actors and would
probably have had little trouble filling the roles that were eventually
filled by Tom Hanks, Kevin Bacon and Bill Paxton in "Apollo 13".

Judith - just my opinion, which I value highly - but film projects I call replication are the films I most detest and are also probably the easiest in which to replace actors. Anybody could play those kinds of roles. It's like young GIs in a war movie. Could be anybody. Put a helmet on their head and there ya go.

I went to see Appllo 13 with the 3 Stooges. I knew them all, dating back to the original group. Apollo 13 happened later in life so the stooges were not in their prime when we saw the flick. They all agreed it sucked. Then they started to argue over who hated it most. Moe took control. Never the less, to cover all bases, in the name of fairness, we need to establish the rules. If the person actually tries to die in the scene, or does not go out of their way to try to stop it - and they manage to live through it - do they get a reprieve or do we put them through as many scenes as it takes to finish them off? I say give them a reprieve. A fresh start. A new beginning. Only a few are going to get through, so it's not like we're giving up much. Let's do this thing.

That's fair. Some could attempt, and succeed, at using the exoneration as proof of them being somehow special, as if singled out by God to live longer for some meaningful purpose. So it's kind of taking a chance letting any of these condemned folks go no matter how the scene turns out. But that's part of being fair. We will need to be vigilant, that's all. Keep out eyes open at all times. Lots of mirrors. Incognito bodyguards. Guys dressed as janitors and bus drivers who are really spies for our system. I can't lie. Any celebrity that dies brings joy to my heart, even the ones I like. I liked Campbell. I sensed sincerity in him. And I'm a sensitive guy, able to 'feel' people out pretty good. But I am not perfect. I could be wrong. Perhaps Glen fooled me just as he may have fooled millions. Maybe he was the meanest most cantankerous evil son of a bitch who ever lived. That's how he came down with Alzheimers, subconsciously on purpose to forget about all the friends and associates he killed over the years. Plus now, coming out of the closet with his illness, Glen becomes known as "The guy who forgets stuff", so in case he ever crosses the line and does something really bad and is caught for it he can always blame the illness. Like when the cops tell him he's going to have to go to jail because murder is against the law, Glen can always say, "Oh yeah, I forgot."

The best of both worlds and he's experienced both. We have experienced only one half of the equation. Perhaps when we die Glen will bid us enter "The Hall of Hallowed Humans" where we most certainly belong along with Abraham, Martin, and John, and of course Glen.

Campbell looked like Jerry Quarry. There are people around here who have the same look. A lot of people living in one area for a long time. There's a certain look. Lots of people in Southern California had it. There were a lot of Okies. Strong people. Kind of raw. I wasn't there, I can only surmise. But surmising is what I'm all about.
