Is Ben Shapiro a liar in claiming, “Congresswoman Maxine Waters is as
corrupt as the day is long”? Also, aren’t days only long in a relative way?
He’s not. A lot of government watchdogs, both partisan and nonpartisan,
point out that Maxine Waters has some real corruption issues. She’s
generally in the top five ‘most corrupt’ Democrats, and has been
repeatedly named to the ‘most corrupt politicians list’ generated by
left-leaning watchdog Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington.

Waters has, among other things, repeatedly worked to drive funds to
‘minority-owned or minority-operated’ banks like ‘OneUnited.’ Her
husband is (or was, anyhow) a major stockholder and former member of the
board of directors for that bank, which is the only one her office
worked to move money to any time there was money to be moved.

She also has an interesting habit of hiring family members and paying
them out of campaign funds to do things, at prices that are frankly
absurd on the open market. Specifically, Waters’ daughter, Karen Waters,
has made nearly a million dollars running a ‘slate mailer’ operation for
her mother. Maxine tried to wave away criticism saying it’s nothing near
what she would have to pay experts in LA for the work, but that’s not
remotely true, and ignores the fact that her daughter is by no means an
expert in producing mailers of any sort.

Now, in the last couple of years, criticism of Maxine has quieted down,
especially from the left, because she was being obnoxious to Donald
Trump and Republicans. That doesn’t make her any less corrupt, though;
in 2020, she threw another 200000 and more at her daughter for help with
‘campaigning.’
