I put up a "list" on my walmart account with monthly nonperishable
groceries. How do I set it up to automatically send them to me every month
(ie 10am first Saturday)? It said you needed the app so no sooner do I set
up the app than the marmelenials freeze my account's ability to order anything
because of suspicious activity. But I can't figure out how you would set up
to send the stuff every month.

Maybe Walmart needs to change prices on items, so can't reorder automatically? Seems like they do show what you ordered before and invite you to do so again, but need a new order each time. Also, their delivery is by Instacart, which doesen't deliver correctly half the time. Better to have a different list each month?

My wife uses her smart phone to place an order for pickup each week.

She pulls into the rear lot of Walmart to the pickup area and
employees load the SUV for her. Simple with no nonssense.

I've never shopped there.

But, fwiw, I just found this article.

A pile of total b.s. crap.

We've shopped Walmart for many years and always saved at least a
hundred bucks over any other local supermarket outlet.

That's what matters to our weekly budget. Not some liberal bleeding
heart crap about some other "victims" or other. We're the victims of
high prices. Walmart helped us enormously.

Learn how to post something besides your liberal anti Walmart and anti
male feminist bullcrap. We're tired of all these "victims" you
bleeding heart liberals come up with.

Local markets here in Anchorage:

Carrs -- has some item special to them, like Black Walnut ice cream. Higher prices.

Costco -- has good watermellons, bulk items, specials like rotissery chick, hot dog soda, and free samples, plus wide isles, although helpless directions. Good bakery and meat section. Fun families to consort with. But you need costly membership. Good Costco Visa Credit Card for discounts. Missing some labels not allowed to compete with proprietary ones.

Fred Meyers -- has good quality produce, fairly good sections, fresh food, does good job backing up mis-deliveries by Boost/Instacart.

WalMart -- lower prices, good sections and selections, troubled by homeless, and violaters of self-checkout. Cheap glasses.

Amazon -- has good service with Prime, lowest prices some items, free home delivery in short time using both USPS and UPS, good backup on returns and cancellations.

Local Asian grocery and cafe does good job marketing Alaska fish.

I compared prices at the above for Thai coconut milk and found Amazon case of 24 with free delivery 9/4 about half the cost per ounce elsewhere @ $49.

For the record, I expect my food budget for this month will be maybe...$105. It's already $99.

Including some meat, takeout, and desserts. (And food that ended up spoiling in the fridge, unfortunately.)

I doubt Walmart prices would have made any difference, since, at my usual stores, I already know where the discount racks are and how often the sales happen.

But I admit that if I were rich, I WOULDN'T be relying on supermarkets; I'd be supporting local farmers and small ethnic stores to the hilt. (Rice, especially, is never cheap at the latter, but occasionally I find good deals on spices.)

> But I admit that if I were rich, I WOULDN'T be relying on supermarkets; I'd be supporting local farmers and small ethnic stores to the hilt. (Rice, especially, is never cheap at the latter, but occasionally I find good deals on spices.)

I like budgeting for household expenses as a meaningful hobby, so I compare prices. Luckily, with others in my building I can use a free monthly bus service to grocery and back, plus as a senior can pay only $1 a ride on city bus service, except on Wednesday it's free.

I'm on a keto diet (expensive) emphasizing fish, fowl, meats, certain berries and vegetables, and avacados, not carbohydrates, sugars, or starches. So I'm learning to be selective and looking at recipes, as with coconut milk..

Because I sold my car and don't pay auto insurance, I'm coming out okay. If I had to, I could further economize by going to $1/free daily meals by Salvation Army in my low-cost housing apartment building, plus get a free monthly box of food from somewhere.
