Is there nothing Chicago can do about the black market gun trade? Do
they just have to endure all the shooting?

No, they do not have to endure it - but they have chosen to at the
government level. If they actually wanted to end the criminal bloodshed,
where most of the shooters and victims, both, have lengthy rap sheets,
all they have to do is start putting the violent felons in jail for
lengthy terms. Get them off the streets where they cannot be adding to
the death toll.

But you need to understand the demographics, and the political mentality
of the left-leaning democrats who run the governments.

If you arrest those who are committing the crimes, you will be,
therefore, arresting mostly young black males. You will quickly have the
likes of Sharpton and Jackson and the NAACP on your street in front of
your house protesting this “obviously racist” effort to “undermine black
youth”. Sure there are whites, Asians, and Latinos involved in crime,
but as a percentage of their populations, and as a percentage of the
actual people doing the crimes, the black males are involved well beyond
their proportion to their demographic.

You will hear the parents complain “their child diddndonuffin, he was a
good boy about to stop dealing drugs next week and maybe get a job… He
didn’t deserve to be put in prison for 20 years…” There will be
anguished faces all over the TV and the whole effort to stop violent
crime will stop in an instant. Those inevitable protests will impact the
leader’s spinal fortitude, as in their political spines will wilt like a
leaf of hot lettuce.

If they want to stop the violence, they are also going to have to
disavow the organizers who protest crime control efforts. They are going
to have to disavow the NAACP and Sharpton et al, instead demand the
government do it’s job. If a protester has no one behind him when he’s
protesting, the media will ignore it.

Secondly there is the issue of their voting base. Blacks have
traditionally voted democrat, regardless of what the democrats have
achieved or done to the black population, particularly to that portion
on welfare. Any effort to reduce crime will, as noted above, affect
their voting base directly.

Third there is a proposition, a theory, that they intend for crime to go
unchecked. This is why they don’t prosecute fully, why they whitewash
felony gun crimes down to misdemeanors, and grant so much early parole.

What goes unpunished will be repeated, and worse.

The government leaders WANT crime to surge. Eventually people will be so
fed up with it, they will demand draconian enforcement. All those laws
on the books today, but not enforced, suddenly will be enforced. It will
take a much larger police force to do this, and the population will
fully agree we need it. They will be asking for a police state, of
course with the likes of Lightfoot running the show.

Just like they did in 1930’s Germany when Hitler was coming to power.
