I got rid of my old Sony TV and DVD recorder, bought an Android 43" flat screen and new Sony recorder, then went so far as to buy a Fire TV Cube, thinking that I could buy for cheap one of the Amazon plans, like one that has no advertizing.

But when I saw what's offered and the costs--which are continually rising with new market manipulations--I backed down. What I did was put to use an old TV aerial by simply plugging it into the socket provided on the new TV. After a few days of juggling around the aerial to eliminate interference, I now have stopped repositioning it, realizing the signal interferences are occasional, and there is an ideal place for it next to the TV.

I'm mentioning all this because I now find that the TV has all kinds of helpful switches for management of everything, including scannng for new aerial signals and deciding which are good. And I have now 50 channels to choose from, using only about 25 having good closed captioning, after eliminating duplications, radio stations, and objectionable ones.

Yes, I still have the problem of ads that keep repeating and very low grade, but some of the programs are welcome, like Jeopardy, Movies, and documentaries.

Easy to switch to Android and Amazon TV, but I like the frugal-living antenna TV that's FREE.
