1) This book might be bad for someone.
Basically: This book might be bad for some people.

2) The subtitles might be too small for someone.
Basically: The subtitles might be bad for some people.

Are '1' and '2' grammatical and do they correspond to the give meanings?

I don't feel comfortable with '1' and '2'. 'Someone' in them doesn't really seem to mean 'some people'. It seems to refer to one person only.

I'm inclined to agree. 'Someone' feels specific, a shorthand, a nod
towards 'someone we know'.
