from the "wish I had kept the clipping" files.... one of the bestest,
and most classic pieces of great international diplo-speak.

The Russians demanded Japan return Belenko, and arguably even
more so, his plane.

they replied Belenko was under investigation for illegally
entering the country, and the Japanese needed the plane
for evidence...
