Has anyone noticed this? Almost every day, no matter how many posts are on the board, her meager output usually comes first on the board. I don't say meager in a negative way, only that she tends to confine her posts to only a few threads. But those threads are usually at the top of the board when I enter the group.

There is a reason for everything. At first I pictured Latham sitting by her computer all day long waiting for Ollie and me to post. Bozo doesn't count. I pictured her sitting there waiting for our posts to go through before posting her own to the top of the board. There is something unethical about this method. It's like an actor getting top billing in a movie in which he appears for only one minute.

Then I thought maybe it's Google's doing - some kind of new "Lady's First" edict. I am not against Ladies and children going first. Especially when the ship is about to down and everyone is bunched up as high as they can go against the rails. At that point I say yes by all means women and children first - straight over the rails into the yawning sea.

My day always starts by looking for posts on alt.life.sucks. I wake-up,
turn on my phone ( which opens directly to the group ) and then proceed
to take my morning shit. If there is a post by one of you guys, serenity
sets in and I can really let it rip. If not, constipation sets in.
Depending on the state of my bowels, depends on what mood I'm in. When
I'm 'backed-up', I get irritable and begin posting. I find it to be good
therapy, my psychiatrist agrees. We probably keep different hours; this
is why you see my posts before yours. If you wish to change the dynamic,
you must post more or change you entire life around to be on my schedule.

You are not alone. My life also revolves around this group. Each day I look forward to it. I cannot adequately describe the disappointment I feel when I see no posts on the board. One day it will happen. Our group is small. A few good men with a woman or two tossed in. It is the smallness of our group that makes it special. But it also makes it fragile and perilous as the death of just one of us will cut the group's population nearly in half. If Ollie dies I'm as good as dead myself. Unless Latham and Bozo are able to pick up the slack. But what if I die? Will Ollie continue to post? We just don't know. Maybe we never will. Perhaps that is just one more thing that makes our group the best - knowing that the death of just one member could be enough to doom the group. Would word of our groups demise go viral in FaceBook Town?

Lots of acrimony. A rarely used sub is given a call on a desperate day when no regular posters are available. "Get on your machine pronto, they need you down at alt.life.sucks." Good subs can work lots of different groups, hiring themselves out. FLPs - free lance posters. But it's not as easy as it looks. It's demanding. Really top notch pro subs have to study and keep up with all the groups that could be calling them at any time. Stay up on topics, know all about the lowdown on every group. Not easy. That's why so far such a job does not exist.

lacking activity on a particular day, I suggest doing a Google search
and re-post the best of Bozo. Always interesting, even the second time
around.

Bozo is listed in Google. Your mistake was looking for "BOB" (best of bozo). All they have listed is "WOB" (worst of bozo). You have to go through his worst stuff to find the less worst, then make that "the best".

As for you Judith, I agree. "Not the good kind", is funny. It's like the old comedy back in its heyday when it had 50 different people chiming in every day - lots of friction, different factions, the type of crap that happens usually when something is or has reached it's prime. We were not trolls but some of those who'd been there a while called us that. These were guys who wanted only "professional working comics" in the group. Good luck with that. They claimed to be anti troll but by their own definition had a group of trolls of their own they considered good because they agreed with everything they said. It was funny. The place eventually went kaput. Like the fall of the Roman Empire kind of.

A lot has been written about what makes a comic funny. The nature of comedy. The different aspects of irony and the old switcheroo. I mostly study switcheroo theory.

I am bugged by all these documentaries in which this guy or that guy in whatever field is ranked 1 to 100 in popularity and appeal and so forth. I love when they know the majority of viewers don't see the subject of the moment as funny, so the narrators talk about why he is funny, how his humor is nuanced and subtle and very hard for the average person to understand. At that point any viewers not wishing to be seen as average becomes an instant fan of the subject.

I seriously wonder at times, if you brought in some species from another planet, or even some ultra remote section of this one - a group that has never seen a negro or a white person before - how they would react to them on the basis of appearance. Surely not all will see the Negro as the ugly group. There are some outstandingly repulsive whites out there - AND YOU KNOW, WHITE BOY! Take away the cultures derived from slavery, etc., and go just with appearance and even demeanor - who knows, the Negro could be seen as not only more attractive physically than the whites, they may also be seen as more civilized and cultured. This scenario could develop into something funny and also short. First the two guys are hit. The guy driving the Dodge gets out. Says he couldn't avoid it, asked what caused it. A crowd has gathered by this point. A bystander said he heard them arguing over which was better, Ford or Chevy. The Dodge driver instinctively looks at his car. He knows it's a Dodge, just wants to make sure. Then a guy driving an Oldsmobile pulls up and gets into. "Everyone thinks it was Ford or Chevy", he says. "Little do they know it was actually Ransom Eli Olds who got the ball rolling. He made the first car." The Dodge guy says he's not sure but he heard different - he heard it was some French guy whose name he can't remember. Tempers flare and before you know it the Olds guy is all over the Dodge guy who is totally non violent, non aggressive - het he has inhuman strength to go along with the knowledge that he is right, that he is the only sane guy in the dispute which now involves nearly everyone in attendance, all throwing punches at each other till cops on motorcycles arrive to restore order before calling for the prison bus to take all offending parties downtown.
