My supervisor sent an email to all asking if anyone interested in applying for a new post job then to reach out to him so he can give us some hints about the job etc. How can I reply to his email, is the following good email? How would you write it yourself? Thank you very much.

Your salutation is a combination of highly informal (Hi) and very
formal (first and last name). It should be either "Hi, John" if you
are on a first-name basis with him or simply "John:". Or, it should
be "Dear Mr Doe:". If the email is addressed to him, it's really not
necessary to use a salutation. His name is in the address line.

Change to: hints, feedback, or advice. ("advises" is a verb and
"advice" is a noun) I would eliminate "etc.". I prefer
"suggestions" to "hints", but that's your choice.

I assume you have access to a dictionary. You should look up words
like "advice" and "advise" so you know the difference and what to use
next time without relying on this group to proofread for you.

While it's not in the proposed email, "post" and "job" are synonymous
in this context. Use one or the other. Again, start looking these
words up for your own future information.

I am not going to make any changes or additions to your email other
than correcting errors. This email should be your thinking, not ours.

Also note that "advices" doesn't exist as a normal word, because like
most (all?) abstract nouns "advice" doesn't have a plural. Most of the
time it doen't need one, but when it does you can say something like
"words of advice".

A word French people often use when writing in English is
"informations". No good; it doesn't exist. If necessary you can say
"pieces of information".

Although "news" looks like a plural it isn't an exception, because it's
normally treated as singular: "The news from Ukraine is worrying". When
I first knew her my wife used to say "a new", but not now.

generated by an AI, as cited in this very newsgroup.

It's still current in the US, though evidently not used in the sources
PTD has access to.

It's an informal term, and thus more suited for private communication
between individuals so it might not be noticed as current if you only
read/hear articles/speech prepared for wider distribution.

With four corrections, it should be fine: "heads up" would be better
as "heads-up," "hint" would be better as "hints," "advises" should be
"advice," and there should be a comma before "etc."

email and read an article about a Georgia teacher who is being fired
for reading a children's book in class that contains passages about
gender identity.

The article - in the form of an "Opinion" piece, includes:

"We think it’s reasonable to debate whether parents of fifth-graders
deserve a heads-up on a lesson about a book like this. And we
understand that a parent might not want their fifth-grader to undergo

A bit of history: I was a victim of an IT takeover. I worked for a very
British small outfit called DrSolomon Anti-virus. We were very proud of
producing the world's best AV software. In Britain. It was very friendly
and informal whilst being efficient and productive.

Then the Americans bought the company.

All of a sudden managers became vice-presidents and the boss became a CEO.

People started giving each other heads-ups and reaching out to each other.

And no, my name is not Paal, it's Paul.

I stayed long enough to cash in my share options and pay off my mortgage.

This was over 20 years ago.

Those that chose to lick arse became VPs and are now quite rich. I'm not
envious.

The whole experience made me a tad anti-americanisms.

But hell, I paid off my mortgage at 42 y/o :-)

People usually refer to inflation as a Bad Thing, but sometimes it can
bring big advantages to lucky people. When bought our first house in
Birmingham in 1971 it cost, I think (but I may be wrong by a factor of
2), about £6500. When we sold it in 1977 it fetched about £13000. So,
despite having paid off almost none of the mortgage, the galloping
inflation of the 1970s meant that we went from owning about 5% of a
house to owning about 55% of a house.

OTOH, thanks to the gentrification of the neighborhood, my house is
now valued at about thrice the purchase price.

In the UK house inflation carried on until the turn of the century. We
were the generation(s) that did well. "Bricks and mortar", that's what my
dad always said. And it was true for us. Gone now.
