New Yorkers are increasingly concerned about the flood of undocumented
immigrants arriving in the city and are souring on President Biden with
a year to go before the 2024 election, a new poll revealed Tuesday.

A large and growing majority of New Yorkers say the migrants pose a
“serious problem” and 58% agree with Mayor Adams’ statement made last
month that crisis could “destroy New York City,” a new Siena College
poll of voters found.

“Seldom do we see an issue where at least 79% of Democrats, Republicans,
independents, men, women, upstaters, downstaters, Blacks, whites,
Latinos, Catholics, Jews, and Protestants all agree: the migrant influx
is a serious problem,” pollster David Greenberg said.

Biden slumps to new lows in the poll, which said 52% of New Yorkers
disapprove of the job he’s doing and just 45% approve.

The Democratic president leads former President Donald Trump by an
anemic 46%-to-37% margin in deep blue New York, compared to a 20-point
edge just last month.

Biden’s edge over Trump is even narrower, just 7%, when voters are given
the options of independent candidates Robert F. Kennedy and Cornel West.

The numbers are particularly grim compared with Biden’s landslide
61%-38% win over Trump in the Empire State three years ago.

“The good news for Biden is the election is more than a year away,”
Greenberg said. “The bad news is there’s more bad news.”

About 70% of Democrats still say Biden is doing a good job, with some
52% saying they would like to see another candidate run in 2024.

Not surprisingly, Trump also gets poor marks from New Yorkers, with just
36% having a favorable view of the four times-indicted ex-president
compared to 59% who see him negatively.

New Yorkers still prefer Democrats over Republicans and by a 12% margin
hope to see Team Blue retake Congress in the 2024 vote.

Gov. Hochul is about even with voters, with 45% approving of the job
she’s doing and 45% disapproving, down a hair from last month, according
to the poll.

The poll suggests the increasing number of migrants arriving in New York
continues to be a major issue driving negative views of the state’s
Democratic leaders and Biden.

By an overwhelming 35% margin, New Yorkers say authorities should “work
to slow the flow of migrants rather than accept and assimilate them,”
the poll said.

Even though New Yorkers disapprove of the job Adams is doing on the
migrants, 57% “seriously agree” with his claim the influx could
“destroy” the Big Apple, compared to 32% who disagree.

A narrow plurality of Democrats agrees with Adams along with majorities
of Blacks and even Latino voters, the poll showed.

Crime is also still a key issue for New Yorkers, the poll said.

Even as police statistics show crime sharply decreasing in New York
City, just 9% of voters said crime was improving while 57% said it’s
getting worse.

On other major issues, New Yorkers strongly support aid to Ukraine by
about a 13% margin and back more aid for embattled Israel by a whopping
25% edge.

When it comes to Israel’s effort to strike back at Hamas after the Oct.
7 terror attacks, 50% of New Yorkers said the Jewish state should try to
minimize Palestinian civilian casualties while 32% said Israel’s
priority should be to destroy Hamas regardless of the impact on civilians.
