Certainly, as seen from Western Europe.
European school atlasses tend to have a country per page.
Italy is made to fit by putting it upright.
So most kiddies don't realise that it is actually diagonally
across the globe, from northwest to southeast.

It is quite noticeable in the times of sunrise and sunset.
(almost an hour between London and Rome,
depending a bit on the season)

time -- he cited the efforts of pigeon fanciers who created new varieties
by selective breeding.
