Not many people in the history of athletics can claim to have single-handedly changed how just about everyone else plied his chosen sport, but the late Dick Fosbury had that distinction.

The Fosbury Flop looked downright dumb to many track-and-field spectators the first time they watched the Oregonian do his thing so unconventionally....but it turned out to be a flop that was anything but, as just about ALL of his colleagues to this day adopted it.
