Those fascinated by--yet nonetheless "tyred" of--the St. George of Floyd saga now have another, fresh one brewing in Memphis.

Florida-based crusading attorney Ben Crump, Esq. is already smack dab in the middle of all this, and authorities in Memphis are bracing for the worst it sure sounds like. Meanwhile, this report from CBS News is a decent summary of things thus far, on the eve of the release of the possibly-incendiary police video.

Apparently no Floyd-style smartphone footage was captured, or at least has to date surfaced...but MAY YET, inasmuch as all this went down rather near the late Nichols's residence.

(And yes, I realize the late King didn't die from his (utterly-resistant) encounter with the Los Angeles Police--he was in fact soon enough compensatingly ENRICHED by it--but rather instead years later drowned in a swimming pool.)

Many hours of cop video are now released, and the cable news nets are airing it--with blow-by-blow pundit-panel speculation--before news producers have even PREVIEWED it, some anchors are admitting!

Various demonstrations around Memphis are underway already as night has fallen over the Midwest, and everyone with a microphone in his or her face is issuing the tired, standard hope-the-protests-remain-peaceful rhetoric.

Haven't watched the Memphis coverage wall-to-wall on Friday night--always gotta see what Dan Abrams & Co. are serving up Fridays on "On Patrol Live"--but after repeated checking the various cable news coverage of the Nichols case, I've yet to hear anyone offer even a meager word or two for the five charged officers. You'd figure that with the BLM sympathizing commentators, but every conservative I've seen has pretty much echoed that.

Everyone keeps saying the most telling video is "hard to watch", and they're correct, but maybe not how they mean that. That is, while endlessly DISCUSSED, even a diligent channel-flipper is hard pressed to actually SEE the most (supposedly) incriminating video; they're all talkin' about it, but it's seldom in the rotation. (An easier news-director decision is simply to re-run the "standing around" vid again.)

But this case seems already to have caught the nation's attention as the national signature story thus far of 2023, so much so that On Patrol Live broke format. (Their regular beat is the eight local police or sheriff's department Abrams has contracted with scattered from Nevada and New Mexico to New Jersey and Florida). So attorney Dan Abrams and retired cops Sean Larkin and Curtis Jackson threw in their thoughts on the Memphis situation for a bit, with nary an excuse for the officers' actions offered. (Not that anyone cares how I evaluate media personalities, but for my money "Sticks" Larkin is the coolest guy anywhere on TV this decade.*)
