I was walking past the Convention Center just as a show was letting out.  A dude I had not seen in a good while came walking out the main doors  I do not know this dude well and do not care to.  He is the type who is always latching onto new  philosophies and other ancient shit - things as old as the hills that are new to him - and now everyone has to hear about it.  You know the type? Gets heavy into something but never hangs long as new and more promising concepts pop up every day.

"Man you should seen the show - I'm telling you the guy was great."

"What guy?", I said.
 
"The guy I just saw.  He was outstanding. He had everybody spellbound."

"What did he do?", I asked.

"What difference does it make what he did?, the guy barked. "The guy was good. The guy IS good. That's all that matters."

"Yeah but what does he do?"

"You just don't get it, do you?", the cultist boomed.  "It isn't what you do, it's how you do it."

"Ok", I conceded, seeing a chance to get sneaky with him:  "Ok, ok, let's say it's true - the guy really is the best - ok then let me  ask you this:  What do the people he's better than do?"

I had him confused enough to make it work.  But then he met up with a friend who had also seen the seminar and I was able to get away. I turned to watch them join in post-seminar celebration.

"What are we going to be?", boomed the first dude, DI style.
  
"The best, Sir!", replied his friend, Grunt style.
 "The best at what?", chanted dude #1 as together they shouted the answer in one voice:  "The best at whatever we do."  

Then arm in arm they began to skip and smile with newfound confidence and gay abandon over sun-flecked puddles formed by showers of wokeness that moved like magic over the area as they sat in rapt silence within the bowels of the giant auditorium abzzzobing the Guru's message of dazzling positivity.

Ollie - the "One bad is not enough" guy. Funny how it's harder to use a single blade on one's self than a bunch of them at once. At least that's the way I see it. I think it's a matter of confidence in a job well done. If you go with a single blade and fail you're going to have to do it all over again. Who knows how many times you will have to stab yourself before you finally die? But to use a mechanical device with multiple blades - even if the first whirling blade misses it's mark it will be followed by one, two, three, or more blades whirling madly, and surely one of them will find the mark - and then it will be over at last. I watched a two parter of Combat. It was well done. Almost what would be a war noir. The photography was excellent. Some great night scenes. It was art. You hear me man ART!

Alright, alright, you got me, you got me - I will be live streaming the show on Hulu starting this week with Netflix and a few other platforms whose names I can't remember as backup. It's not just Combat, it's a lot of new stuff I'm missing out on. Trending shit. I need to keep up. Combat is old school. But I have heard it called art before. I will watch it as soon as I'm set up with the new live streaming services and other platforms designed to better bring me the best movies and TV of any and all eras.

Saw William Shatner on Hitchcock last night. He was in several. This was an earlier one, I could tell. I never considered Shatner a method guy. But he was young in this episode and it was obvious he was fresh out of drama school as for the first time ever I saw him going full bore method. It was just one scene, but his face got all twisted up as we went full on James Dean for us. It was not good. Fortunately in time he found himself. He has progressed. From half hour TV shows to Star Trek and beyond to commercials for "So Clean" CPAP machines. A great product. Used one last night and slept like a baby. It's a new version. Not just CPAP, but also a dream machine. Yes, dreams are pumped into the machine. Then you hook up and swing with whatever you get. Better than the movies any day. But like Bill Shatner says, "You gotta keep your CPAP machine clean", and yes it's true, there is no better product than "So Clean" for those looking to get down and dirty with their dreams.

Funny, I thought I was the only one he let call him The Shat. Lots of rampant amateurism in entertainment. Comics that flat-out suck. Talk show hosts who shouldn't be talking period. Absolute garbage and people go for it. At one time I thought fondly of the idea of amateurs taking over. I still do. But they have to be the right amateurs. The ones we’re getting now are bad, real bad. Bozo seems to like them. I think he follows them. He’s linked in tight and hard. Trending big time.

Yes, it is funny how these fuckers start out doing award winning movies, getting all the juicy parts, then in the twilight of their careers they start doing commercials for stuff they would never use, let alone buy. It is as you say, they do the commercials to pay back the bigwigs who gave them good roles early in their careers. I feel the same way about big name comics, singes, and rock bands always on tour. I can see it in small clubs, just for the love of it and some extra cash. But the big endless tour - I am very doubtful of those who claim they do it because they love it. Maybe there are some who do, but I suspect they are in the minority.

As I said, I know The Shat personally, just like you. I recently asked him, “Shat, tell me the truth, do you really use a CPAP machine?” He said, "Yes I do." But he does not use the “SoClean” product to keep them clean. He says urine works even better. Plus it's free. “Piss is acidic”, said The Shat. "It strips away all bacteria plus it has a nice natural aroma to it. I am glad I have sleep apnea."

I have already done so. I have been offered over a hundred commercials in my career - a career that has not yet taken off. I turned them all down. I want to be the greatest actor of all time. I'm a method guy, only more advanced than Brando and those guys. If I do commercial the big studios might see that as a sign that I don't have leading man capacity. So I stay away from them for now. I told one producer who offered me a commercial that I would be willing to do some for him later, after I become famous, but not before. He said he would remember that. He may call me soon for a big role, the role of a life time. Once I become famous and beloved by all I will then be able to do the commercials. Yes, a reverse mortgage commercial sounds nice. I like when famous people fade out of site and you know something is up for sure. They are dying, dissolving in front of the mirror. Richard Simmons is in the privacy parade right now. You know he'd rather be on TV. But what does he look like? Like living death. Maybe soon we'll see him doing a reverse mortgage commercial. Funny term, reverse mortgage, especially for a guy like me who never cared to learn what mortgage meant - and now suddenly I'm supposed to understand the reverse version. I am going to google up the Progressive life insurance commercial and see if I can post a link. It's short enough and worth a laugh - even worth studying for guys like me with little better to do.
