This is a cover story by Ramesh Ponnuru, from Dec. 2nd.

It fills up two pages in the hard copy.

https://www.aei.org/op-eds/never-again/

Last paragraph:

"It is enough. It is more than enough. Whatever we might have thought of Trump over the past seven years, we conservatives should now be able to agree on what we want next: Let Trump have as happy a retirement as his disposition will allow, and let us seek new leaders for a new day."

I have to say, I don't know how much of a difference this will make, when even Fox News' abandonment(?) of Trump didn't seem to crush him.

The funny part about this - and, yes, we've all read (or at least read about)
the latest WSJ article slamming the Repubs and Trump - is that when you
hear about this happening - somebody who was a Trumper right up until they
stopped (came to their senses) - you are filled with two, competing, emotions:

1) Yey! You did good.
and
2) What the hell took you so long???

Liz Cheney is the shining star/prototype for this phenomenon.

Essentially, they can't win. They're still, and always will be, damaged
goods - despite having (finally!) done the right thing.

TARP money, spilled oil in the Gulf of Mexico, gave themselves billions in
bonuses, and paid no taxes? Yeah, me neither."

If conservatives bestir themselves to insist that Trump be granted
a happy retirement rather than an onerous consecutive sentence
package pursuant to felony convictions, they have hardly
"abandoned" him.

The World Trade Center towers MUST rise again,
at least as tall as before...or terror has triumphed.
