Don't you have any money with you?
1) I do. I took the cash in the drawer.
I think that means I took all of the cash in the drawer. Would you agree?

Didn't the children have any lunch yesterday?
2) They did. They ate the cookies in the fridge.
Does that imply they ate all of the cookies in the fridge?

Didn't the children have any lunch yesterday?
3) They did. They ate the fruit on that tree.
Does that imply they ate all of the fruit on the tree?

What did you have for dessert in the summer?
4) We ate the fruit on that tree.
Does that imply we ate all of the fruit on the tree?

This is the one that implies the "all". But it isn't fer shur, and I
don't think there's a rule you can use; this is a matter of custom
rather than logic.

My assumption would be that there are no more cookies in the fridge.

It says to me that they all piled into the fridge to eat the biscuits (if
that's what "cookies" are).

Strange thing to do, but hey.

Choccy bikkies are best in the fridge. Depending on where one lives, of
course. Currently over 30ºC in our kitchen, so anything meltable in
fridge.

That's the last time I take advice from you! I put my ice in the fridge
and it *still* melted.

I keep my ice in the fridge. In the freezer compartment, obviously.

which he replied "I can believe that" (I have big feet).

“But I don’t understand! I don’t understand how this all happens. How we go
through this. I knew her, and then she’s – there’s just a body, and I don’t
understand why she just can’t get back in it and not be dead…anymore! It’s
stupid! It’s mortal and stupid! And…and Xander’s crying and not talking,
and…and I was having fruit punch, and I thought, well, Joyce will never have
any more fruit punch, ever, and she’ll never have eggs, or yawn, or brush her
hair, not ever, and no one will explain to me why!”
