‘Changing global order’: China’s hand in the Iran-Saudi deal

China brokering a deal between longtime Gulf rivals is ‘a broader sign of a changing global order’, analysts say.

China’s efforts in brokering a deal between Iran and Saudi Arabia have been seen by analysts as broader signs of a “changing global order”.

During talks in Beijing on Friday, Saudi Arabia and Iran agreed to re-establish diplomatic relations and reopen their embassies within two months. The agreement also stipulated affirming “the respect for the sovereignty of states and the non-interference in internal affairs of states”.

Iranian state media posted images and video of Ali Shamkhani, secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran, shaking hands with Saudi national security adviser Musaad bin Mohammed al-Aiban, with Wang Yi, China’s most senior diplomat, standing in between.

China’s role as a mediator in resolving longstanding issues between the regional foes had not been made public prior to the announcement.

Wang reportedly said China will continue to play a constructive role in handling hotspot issues and demonstrate responsibility as a major nation. He added that as a “good-faith” and “reliable” mediator, China has fulfilled its duties as a host for dialogue.

沙伊復交是中國路線的實現（黃智賢）
石破天驚。3月10日中國、沙特（沙烏地阿拉伯）、伊朗發表三國共同聲明：「北京對談」促成了沙伊兩國，在2個月之內，恢復邦交。
兩國讚賞並感謝中國領導人與政府，承辦並且推動「北京對談」，取得成功。三國聲明「願進一切努力，加強國際地區和平與安全。」中共外事辦主任說：「這是對話的勝利、和平的勝利。」

沙國跟伊朗，都是伊斯蘭教重要國家，分屬遜尼派跟什葉派，本來就有一定的矛盾。但這兩國，也在歷史中，被西方長期剝削。而在冷戰期間，這兩國更被美國當成在中東勢力的「雙柱」。直到伊朗之後爆發革命，巴勒維被推翻。於是，跟美國的矛盾可就大了。

而沙國是美國長期的親密盟友。2016年沙伊兩國因為種種事故，最後斷交。到現在7年了。中間一直有復交的努力。但直到這次北京會談，終於成功。

美國如何對付伊拉克，都家都很熟了。美國對伊朗的制裁、禁運、暗殺、武力，就不用說了。自己禁運，竟然要求全球都必須對伊朗禁運。華為孟晚舟被美國製造的「罪名」，就是妳竟然跟伊朗做生意！許多陸商跟台商，被美國「黑名單」，也不過就是跟伊朗做生意。

中沙伊聲明一出來，美國居然還舔著臉說，沙伊復交，美國有貢獻呢。說是因為美國給了壓力，才促成和平進展。估計中東各國都噴笑了。人家兩國感謝的，可是中國。美國，還在想什麼壞心思？

中國這次，成功促成沙伊復交，意義重大。
一、 西方在中東幾百年的掠奪，製造無數戰亂。而中國公平對待各國，創造雙贏與對等。以一己之力，給中東帶來和平。
二、 證明中國之路，與西方完全不同。中國崛起，不是掠奪與征戰，而是和平與希望。
三、 美國為首的西方集團，真正面對的挑戰，是長期被剝削掠奪的國家，開始覺醒。
他們發現，跟著中國，可以打開一條新的，有希望的路徑。

美國製造戰爭，中國創造和平。新的世界開展。

While U.S. President Joe Biden’s Middle East team was focused on normalizing Saudi-Israeli relations, China delivered the most significant regional development since the Abraham Accords: a deal to end seven years of Saudi-Iranian estrangement. The normalization agreement signed last week by Riyadh and Tehran is noteworthy not only because of its potential positive repercussions in the region—from Lebanon and Syria to Iraq and Yemen—but also because of China’s leading role, and the United States’ absence, in the diplomacy that led to it.
Washington has long feared growing Chinese influence in the Middle East, imagining that a U.S. military withdrawal would create geopolitical vacuums that China would fill. But the relevant void was not a military one, created by U.S. troop withdrawals; it was the diplomatic vacuum left by a foreign policy that led with the military and made diplomacy all too often an afterthought.
The deal represents a win for Beijing. By mediating de-escalation between two archenemies and major regional oil producers, it has both helped secure the energy supply it needs and burnished its credentials as a trusted broker in a region burdened by conflicts, something Washington could not do. Chinese success was possible largely because of U.S. strategic missteps: a self-defeating policy that paired pressure on Iran with supplication to Saudi Arabia helped China emerge as one of few major powers with clout over and trust with both of these states. ..."
